Product Description
The GR1 is GORUCK's original military-grade rucksack and its most popular piece of gear, optimized for both rucking / tactical bodyweight training and reliable everyday backpack use.
This version of the GR1 pack is manufactured in the USA utilizing only the best materials, including a 1000D CORDURA primary construction, YKK zippers (with silent pulls), and a newly updated 210D High Tenacity CORDURA back panel and shoulder straps. Tested over the past four years, the abrasion-resistant 210D HT upgrade offers athletes more versatility in how they train, with no sacrifice in comfort or durability. This material is uniquely well suited for use with tank tops, travel shirts like Merino Wool, or even shirt-free training.
Every GR-1 requires approximately 4 hours to hand-build and is strength tested at over 400 LBS. GORUCK's flagship rucksack is currently available here in your choice of a 21L or 26L size, each of which comes with a bombproof laptop compartment, MOLLE compatibility, extra-padded straps, multiple small accessory pockets (internal and external), open-flat versatility, and 2x3" Velcro for adding a custom patch. Both sizes are TSA compliant.

I'm not sure customer service was correct. This version doesn't appear to have a top external quick action pocket. Still a decent deal though, if you don't want to pay $50 more for one extra pocket.

I spoke with their customer service about this again. They said that both bags are the same and both include the quick access pocket. The only difference is that this one is not returnable.

Thank you for confirming. The pictures are different. Your work probably helped someone who was on the fence about it.

I ruck. Often and far. I appreciate GoRuck as a company but their products, while good and made in USA, are far over priced. Even on clearance this bag isn't worth this $$.

And at this money to sell the pad and strap separate? Even crazier.

I recently heard about Ctactical, which seem like dupes of Goruck, with similar materials and construction quality. Albeit in smaller sizes.

I ruck far and often too and do events that are tough on rucksacks. I have 2 GoRucks based on their durability and lifetime repair policy. What other rucksack company/products do you recommend?

Goruck themselves are clones of packs that have existed in military use for many years. Ctactical design did start I would say around goruck lines, but they have innovated to the point where goruck now copies what they do. Simple additions like a quick action pocket that goruck made a big deal about, even charging more for at first, were things ctactical had been doing for a while.

Goruck used to be able to claim high prices by manufacturing in the USA, however now 90% of what they make is in Vietnam. Ctactical is a smaller Vietnamese company whose packs are just as well built for a fraction of the cost. Goruck is not worth it any longer. If ctactical ever makes larger packs they will kill it.

I haven't ever had an issue with issued rucks in the military. Some very good packs. Found quite cheap at surplus stores. Very durable and more useful, expandable, adjustable, cinchable, etc.
I am currently using a digicam Army issue ruck bought used on FB marketplace for $75. It does everything asked if it and more. Been using it for 3-4 years.

There is one that is exactly like GoRuck 4.0 made in the USA. Brand is Ruckercise the model is Ridge and 21liters. The price is just 150 and they sell in amazon and their website. If you are serious about tough training, or military PT this is a great option. It has cordura 1000, and everything else. CTactical is based in Vietnam and while materials are top, craftsmanship and design is evolving. For example the Ruckercise features the side and lower handles while the Ctactical have never designed yet anything like that.
If you get in their list Ruckercise will give you a 10℅ off, and if you are eligible for a GOVX account, your discount is 20%. Worth checking this American company (specially if you go on Tough Challenge of Freedom Ops events).

Definitely considering a purchase from Ruckercise, but I don't see anywhere on their website that says Made in the USA. Usually that is something that a company would make clear.
