Here's the page where you can choose dark mode (midnight skin) on the desktop version of the site: https://slickdeals.net/forums/profile.php?do=
Definitely not vague at all.

I'm surprised that I did not know about dark reader. So much easier on the eyes.
Edit Had to turn it off since it made read threads look the same as the other threads. bummer

I did ask one of them if they saw the same issue you do with dark reader not showing bold vs not bold for read and not read threads. They say they do actually see the bold and not bold for distinguishing read and unread. But it's more subtle in dark mode than regular/light mode, as you can hopefully see below.
Classic in dark mode (the Claritin thread is the one that's read and not bold. Ignore the white box at the beginning of the other titles, that's just the normal 'go to first new post' icon that's on all threads that haven't been read or have new posts in them. Though that might actually help for telling which you've read or not
Redesign in dark mode (Total Wireless and the Google Pixel are both read and unbold and ignore the white box here too)
If this is what you see, then maybe you may just have to learn to distinguish bold vs not bold with it for a bit longer? Give it a bit more time or something?
