#2 - 3i RAM is soldered so not upgradeable. 8GB is not what it used to be with newer versions of WIndows. Being able to upgrade to 16gb or 32gb is very useful.
#3 - 3i only has a 256 GB SSD.....That can go away really fast.
#4 - 15.6 vs 17.3
Really hard to compare these two devices at all.

OP when you say there's an extra (I'm guessing empty) m2 slot for an additional m2 drive are you going off the questions and answers section for it? I checked the same Q and A and found this quote
"A:Answer Ignore the HP and Best Buy reps. I bought three of these exact models and upgraded the RAM and drives. I can confirm you absolutely can upgrade the RAM and NVME drive. It has two DDR4 slots and you can pop in another 8GB or put two 16GB dimms. In addition to the NVME, it also has a spot for a 2.5" drive and the mother has the interface. You just need to order an HP SSD ribbon cable and drive caddy (or double sided tape it). Nothing is soldered in.

Does this mean one occupied m2 slot, one vacant m2 slot and an empty 2.5 ssd drive bay that can be made use of if you order the HP SSD ribbon cable?

"I bought this in December. It has two memory slots, one of them pre-populated with an 8GB DIMM. I added another 8GB DIMM to get to 16GB, no issues, so I think you'll be fine with a 2x16 kit".

It all depends on needs. Most NORMAL people do not have 5 apps running at one time, live streaming and have a game running.
this laptop has bigger and likely screen, upgradability, gaming ability.
imo if you were to get a laptop with N-series cpu, it should be for BOTH price and portability.
your deal only has advantage in price... it lacks portability.
