As a lifetime gold at Marriott, I can tell you the bonus qualifying night to reach gold staus is almost worthless. Platiunum is requried (50 nights per year) to get lounge access or breakfast.
Hilton and Hyatt are running double points right now.

Same. Nothing showing up for me.
It's showing in most people's app. Promo doesn't start till 2/11. Trip this doesn't count towards this promo
"only for stays booked through Marriott Channels and other Qualifying Channels which include, but are not limited to: Marriott Websites, the Mobile Apps, Participating Properties, and the Customer Engagement Centers."
Hoping it falls in the latter two categories. Guess we'll find out.
One time I booked through something else (forgot) and I wasn't able to link my Bonvoy to it because they said I booked through a 3rd party - so no nights/points for that trip.

Just book a reservation like normal, and just let it go. Not many people realize that hotels don't care if you physically show up so long as they get their $$. In fact I've thought of calling up one of these (middle of nowhere) hotels and trying to bargain a discounted rate with them because your stay will cost them $0 - no free breakfast, no housekeeping, nothing.
In general though you can go to the website/app, search for however many nights you need (enter start and end dates) and a vague area - they only let you be as vague as a state. I searched some states that aren't known for tourism or big cities, then sort by price. I tried that in Mexico too but some of the lower tier properties down there (I forget the property names but we don't have them in the US) don't accumulate elite night credits.
I think you're confused - elite nights are for status only. They are not free nights or anything like that. Points can be used for free nights if you have enough. I've never had issues being able to use points.
