The Science says that fluoride has negative side effects. To what degree? Well, that's the debate.
That said, keep in mind, the standard for adding fluoride to the water came at a time when plenty of oral ill-health was due to diet (read:poor nutrition). Flouride was a cheap, easy and widespread way to address a symptom of that problem.
The irony is, today it's too much sugar.
Long to short, if you eat well and brush regularly fluoride isn't as necessary as the Tooth Paste Industrial Complex promotes.
