I picked up a different model a while back. The nerf tennis balls are garbage and split after the initial use. Pretty sure that's where the choking hazard came from. This model looks like it comes with different balls but quality tennis balls will likely be more durable.
I picked up the first one since I spend a fair amount of time around an unemployed border collie. Endless energy and I got tired of bending over to pick up slimy sticks. I am surprised the amount of dirt and rocks that have been through it and she still shoots like a pro (you have to shake them out the front of the barrel after it builds up a bit). Trigger pull is a little on the heavy side so someone with a weaker grip might need to use two hands.
I'm surprised my first one is still shooting after about a year of heavy use. I picked up another for when the first one eventually dies

Of course they are. If you think that's a risk don't buy it

Even dogs are unemployed now. Man, that's a tough economy.

Sonic balls? My flood donated his to science in exchange for a longer life. Are these intended replacements (doppelgangers) ?

Wow what a very extensive of a review. I'm sorry to hear about your dog losing its job. When you say extensive use, what do you mean exactly... like how many rounds per month?
