Only 500 joules surge protection (almost none)
Joule ratings under 1,000 should be avoided unless you're safeguarding very tiny gadgets that don't hold any crucial information
No word on clamping voltage

Easy pass

Using it for home and office computers, electronics, and home theater equipment as they claim in the listing is just asking for your stuff to break

Got this from Home Depot 5+ years ago for $10. Has worked well. I thought this model had long been replaced as Home Depot stopped carrying it for a different version many years ago.

Agreed. Although I'll go a step further to say that "Joules" have little to do with surge suppression. They're mostly used as MW for a simplified understanding of the energy that can be dissipated before the MOV shorts.

Clamping voltage (when the MOV kicks in and stops letting power through) is 800V L-N according to Cyberpower data sheet [cyberpowersystems.com]. Note that anything 400 and over is completely worthless as a type 2 SPD (non whole house) device (but still allowed to be called a transient surge suppressive device or surge protective device by UL1449 for some inexplicable reason).
