Recent reviews are awful.

The black one is regular $399 but the Charcoal one is regular $110. I guess black plastic just recently got VERY expensive.

I bought one a month ago and kept it for about thirty minutes. It was the loudest thing in my house and I've got two dogs. Luckily the store took it back so I just wasted my time, and not my money.

I've been enjoying mine since December. Have it in basement cold storage so I don't hear it at all. Runs great. I have it always full of ice. Got 3 year warranty for $11 so…it was worth it for $100 IMO

Hopefully it doesn't get too cold down there.

Unless it's insulated and rated for it, compressor systems have a pretty narrow safe operating temperature range.

Too warm and they kill themselves quickly. Too cold and they don't operate efficiently and then break down slowly.

It's a finished basement where the cold storage room is lol. Thanks for the concern though.

The compressors on these small ice makers are very loud. Its just how most of them are built. So be prepared for that👍🏻

i own this ice machine replacing a cheaper one I got a few years ago. the one I replaced is the common one you see that makes bullet-shaped ice cubes. it was okay, but it made ice cubes too slowly for the number of people I had at gatherings. i bought this one a few months back mainly for the holidays and it has worked great so far. i was skeptical due to the unknown brand and the mixed reviews, so I got the 3yr protection plan with it. i haven't had any issues with Walmart protection plans yet, so if I ever experience issues with this ice maker, I'm sure I'll get my money back. guess ill find out.

Absolute Garbage ICE Maker, Purchased 3 over the past several months Nov-Jan hoping to get a good one. All 3 returned due to dead on arrival .
Makes Ice for about 4 hrs when you first plug in , then it will error out and melt the ice. Unplug unit and try again, then about once a day it will make a 90+db grinding noise because the Ice is frozen up.

I took apart 2 separate units to see if there was anything obvious to repair. Could not bench repair and returned back to store.

10+ hrs troubleshooting 3 separate units.
Believe the reviews.
You have been warned.

Bought one in Jan 2024 cause it was cheaper than fixing the fridge ice maker. We keep it in the laundry room and dump the ice in a fridge freezer container to scoop out. Worth $100 and would get it again.
Tips:
  • It is loud. Solution: Place in a location away from a common area
  • It leaks and water spills when getting ice. Solution: Get a rimmed tray to put under it and place it on a location that can get wet
  • Sensors get dirty and stops making ice. Solution: Use alcohol pad to clean the 2 sensors near where the ice enters.
I am going to get one just to replace if/when mine breaks.

I bought one during black friday and it was trash. It barely made ice, turned on cleaning after an hour and melted the ice it did make, and made horrific sounds after a couple hours of use. I returned it.

this seams like an extremely silly way to increase your electric bill. Ice makers inside an already cold freezer don't need any extra energy, why would you want another one?

Sonic ice is a whole new level of ice. Probably the only reason they are still in business. If you like to crunch on ice the texture is like eating puffy cheetos.
