I don't understand the logic here. Yea this was a $2k laptop when it came out. A 50XX will be $2k and then in over a year it'll be on sales maybe close to this. So you're saying don't buy this at $1300, instead buy the 50xx at $2300 because in a year it'll be $1300???

Screen sucks but 4080 at this price is good. I personally went with the other Msi stealth which has much better screen a lot more ram. Hopefully they honor the order

The RTX 5070 mobile is confirmed to have only 8GB RAM and is unlikely to be faster than a 4080 mobile in basic rasterization, so I'd recommend a 4080 mobile laptop over any 5070 non-TI laptop.

A laptop like this with a good thermal setup is likely to have a similar performance profile to the RTX 5070 TI. Both have 12GB VRAM, and although the 4080 Mobile has more CUDA cores, the 5070 TI is equipped with GDDR7 vs the GDDR6 in the 4080 Mobile. The RTX 5000 series line is fabricated on the same TSMC 4N process as the Ada Lovelace series, so I expect Nvidia will be pushing the DLSS 4 software differences any chance they get.

We don't currently have benchmarks for mobile 5000 series besides the 5090, but it's looking like the per-watt performance improvements are very low. I suspect 4080 equipped laptops will be the real value leaders this year as old stock is cleared out.

Even estimating only a year for a 5080 laptop to go on sale for under $1300 is wildly optimistic. These prices for 4080 laptops are intended to clean out remaining stock. You won't see discounts like this again until the end of the RTX 50 series, so, probably 2 years.

I have had this laptop for a year. Its a beast, you can swap the memory for 5600 and it will run at 5600 if you mess with the bios. with DLSS 4 transformative being available on 4000 (Cyberpunk already has it) I can play on a 4k screen on ultra beyond 80 fps with ray tracing on. It is however, heavy and as mentioned the screen sucks. If you want a portable laptop go for an OLED thin like stealth or Asus Zephyrus. If you want to add a massive fan underneath and use is as desktop this can be a workstation/mid tier gaming system for the next 2 years.

Tried to order the other MSI laptop from cdw but got my order cancelled. Good luck to others who go the cdw route. Went with connection and order 15 hours ago and they sent me an email 2 hours ago and it's expect here by Friday. Was hoping for the Lenovo pro 7 refurbished deal to be back but I'm paying 500 less then that and probably 800-1k less then a zeph 16.
