I bought this when they had a $5 coupon making it $20. Spent another $10 for a SanDisk 64GB microSD. Have it pointing towards the street, so it records 24/7 a lot of activity with all the cars and people passing by. I notice recently that it is very slow to load. It connects, but sometimes takes 10-20 seconds before I can view the footage. And at times, it will time out and won't connect. The other cameras that don't have much activity work fine. So it could the the camera or the microSD.

I hope they make a Homebase where we could use a hard drive for all cameras instead of having to buy a microSD for each.

I wouldn't want a homebase. I've got at least 15 Tapo cameras (They are really impossible to beat for the price!) and at 2K resolution that would be an insane amount of traffic going 24/7 on my Wi-Fi. So I prefer that they record locally and not jam my network. Plus with local recording they are not susceptible to wifi jammers.

In terms of price, you'll have to buy a ton of SD cards before it adds up to how much a homebase + hard drive would cost you. And if the hard drive dies, there go all the videos for all of your cameras.

I have the same problem sometimes where I can't connect to a camera. But these are many times better than any of my Ring cameras in terms of features, reliability, execution, connectivity and price. I don't know how Tapo crams so many features in it at this price. C110 and C120 are my go to, and because of their price I can install them liberally. I have the inside and outside of my house blanketed.

The connection problem is usually caused by the Wi-Fi signal. I had this issue until I extended my network. The lag time for viewing cut down drastically to less than a couple of seconds.

In my case, it's not the WIFI signal. I have another camera right next to it but pointing into my side yard. Very little activity is recorded on that one and works fine. I even tried switching them around, and the one pointing to the street will start lagging. So I think the camera may have issues processing too much data.

It may also be a congested network. Try doing a split network for IoT devices if you haven't done that. After adjusting my Wi-Fi signal and splitting the network, my response time is almost instantaneous with these cameras. And I have about 5 of these setup outdoors with no more issues. I'll also add I have 2Gbps fiber, so that likely helps my case.

All good points. I have recently been using a lot of the Tapo cameras and they have been flawless. I also run blue iris and have around 40 cams. Tapo is impossible to beat for the price and performance.

Worth noting that the 25% cashback with Amazon Prime card is also good for other Tapo cams including the multi-pack
