I got this a month ago at Costco. It goes on sale regularly so I suggest buying there if you have membership. Much more likely to be fresh for maybe $1 more than this price. My limited knowledge review: Roast was about 2 months past roast date with like 21? months expiration so it was fresh enough. Bag does not come with ziplock or sticker to keep closed so you need to use your own tape or container... Closer to medium/dark than medium... my bag had a fair amount of broken shells and "quakers" (not ripe or roasted properly) that I tossed out. Flavor and smell were pretty good. For the price it's not bad.

I discovered an easy way to get more mileage out of these beans before they go stale (which was happening to me consistently with these after a week or two), freeze them. I put a day or two's supply in my grinder, another day or two's in an airtight container in my cabinet and the rest in a gallon ziplock my freezer.

When my grinder needs refilling, I use the beans in the cabinet container and refresh that container with beans from the freezer. That way, I'm not putting beans directly from my freezer into my grinder. Whether putting frozen beans in a grinder would be a problem or not, I'm not sure, but avoid it to be safe.

This is normally my fav coffee, but the last bag I got was a darker more sweaty roast than usual. The flavor was not up to par.
Same here – beans were more oily than before and more carbon than fruity flavor notes, so I returned (to Costco Business Center).

I have taken beans directly from the freezer to grinder for years without an issue. There are studies that show the colder the beans are, the more even the grind will be. I do use 205° F water b/c the grind starts out cold.

I'll give them one more try and then look elsewhere.

They do sell whole beans. Amazon (shipped and sold by Amazon) currently has 6 pounds for $61 (w/s&s coupon).

Never tried this one so Ill give it a shot. I stayed away from Lavazza for many years after I tried their Crema E Aroma. It was god awful and no amount of grind adjustments would fix it. But its time to give them another shot.
