Best deal right now for something like this? I hate to have to purchase one after the holidays but just poor timing to need a new machine.
Depends on your needs, tbh.
There's another excellent deal on MSI Prestige 16: That comes with an RTX 4060, IPS Display, and half the RAM which can't be upgraded. The Creator 16 is superior in every way but it's also almost double the price.
There was also a deal on a similar configuration to the OP but in a 14" chassis, that's out-of-stock right now but it comes around time to time; MSI Stealth 14 AI Studio: 14" 2.8K 120Hz OLED, Ultra 9-185H, RTX 4070, 64GB DDR5
There are also regular deals on the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9s (these are currently not active):
All of these are laptops best suited for content creation. Currently, the MSI Creator 16 right here is the best deal available and is more or less superior to every laptop mentioned above.
It would be better if you don't showcase your limited knowledge on the matter. This is not a gaming laptop and so does need a higher or full wattage GPU, esp 4080 at that. For content creation, which this laptop is aimed for, 105W for an RTX 4080 is more than sufficent.

I have the Stealth variant of this, which is effectively the exact same components in a dark blue chassis versus the dark silver of this chassis. Build quality and performance (yes, for gaming) are excellent. Gaming is obviously not to the level of a full-wattage 4080, but is superior to a full-wattage 4070. As far as the quality-of-life differences versus a typical 'gaming' laptop, I would say it's worth it for me. 1080p webcam, 4k+ 1000 nit incredible panel, excellent battery life with office-type usage (8+ hours with hybrid graphics enabled), relatively slim and light. I could go on. I got the original CDW deal under $1400 before tax+shipping, and couldn't be happier.

Still waiting for shipping though😠Hope I can get mine soon...
Is this good for content creation like video editing? I'm looking for a new PC laptop for creative work that has Windows 11 Pro for other IT work too.
This would be great for that. But if you are looking at other good options, Win11Pro should be the least of your worries. If a laptop is otherwise acceptable to you, Win11Home can be upgraded to pro with just a new license key purchased online.

Aha very true. Any recommendations for other options?

Hmm would you go worth the Prestige 16 for 900 plus 35 for shipping, this one, or the stealth for 1500 and few shipping? The most advanced program I would be using is probably Premiere Pro or After Effects. I know I will need to connect to an external display at times anyway so 14 vs 16" isn't a dealbreaker

There are new deals here every day, if one of them hits the sweet spot, by all means, pull the trigger. I really don't need one of these, but this hits the sweet spot on the sort of things that I look for. I still would probably swap out the SSD for larger, but my normal move of upgrading the RAM has already been done here.
And here's the thing... China just got slapped with tariffs, which are going to upend supply chains on electronics if they aren't reversed in the near future. I'm not sure whether this laptop is Taiwan or China made, but regardless, a lot of the inputs are from China. If someone's on the fence about a purchase now, I wouldn't wait and think it's going to be better in a month or two. I bought a whole bunch of components I wanted this weekend... I was waiting to finish a desktop build, but I think I just want to get it done now.

Very true with the tariffs. I'm planning to purchase a laptop in the next 48 hours for creative work with premiere pro and after effects probably being the most intensive in case that helps with any recommendations.
