I've got two, huge guitar hero / rock band guy. It's not my absolute favorite guitar, but it's great for a casual fan. Better than taking a chance on a 10-15 year old used guitar from eBay.

So wait, the original guitar hero/rock band controllers are still the best?

Hard to generalize, there's so many old guitars - it's a matter of personal preference, really.

If it helps - this is a Rock Band style guitar. Mushy strum, rectangular frets. Not the clicky style like most GH models.

This post reminded me of my old rockband/guitar hero guitars and drumsets I have put away. Makes me want to hook up my old xbox360 and play it again. I didn't know these guitars are selling for a high dollar amount on ebay, I still have multiple guitars and a couple drum sets, I think I had 2 sets for xbox 360 and one for the Wii.

Get a real guitar or bass, a realtone cable or USB input and play Rocksmith 2014 with stuff from customsforge. You might even get the urge to learn to play for real!
It a different experience.

Also, the original Rocksmith was pretty good. The abomination that they have now sucks. If you want to learn to play just buy a Fender Squier Debut Stratocaster orthis Fender FA Accoustic Guitar Bundle [amazon.com] that even has a tuner and gig bag for $140. Both come with Fender Play subscriptions.

This is a good price. I have two of these. I have a bunch of original RB and GH instruments (guitars, keytar, drums) and some guitars have issues. but to get kits to fix them is like $80 each. (yes there is a whole modding community out there. you can even 3D print your own guitars) Anyway, I saw these and bought two for around $125 each several months back after watching some reviews. I have since put Clone Hero (free software that mimics RB or Guitar Hero) on my server and have added over 1000 custom songs.

The cool thing about this Riffmaster is that the neck folds down for traveling.

Well damn I think the clone hero may have sold me.

I have 2 of these, quick thoughts:

- When well calibrated, fully charged, and the moon is in the proper phase this is the one that never leaves me feeling like "I hit that note you stupid piece of &)@;&;&", and very little clickiness while playing

- Unfortunately when the charge gets low it tends to get slightly out of sync, especially when you are playing with a full band/multiple instruments locally. Can't just pop in new batteries like the old ones. I do not notice this issue with the older guitars. This is on a PS5. Occasionally it needs to be randomly recalibrated for reasons I can't reproduce.

- Quality seems to be an issue, I have 2 original (from PS2 days) and a Rivals Jaguar and have never had an issue with malfunctions. Now I'm older and even more careful with things and within about 4 plays one of the buttons on the neck stopped registering and PDP won't honor the warranty (this hasn't even been out for a year). The same button on the solo section still works. The other one seems fine so far. YMMV.

All told I would pick this up if you have a large RB music library and still like to play, you never know if they'll produce any more and don't want to repair/3d print/pay a premium down the road.
