1. What is battery life like for non-gaming / productivity (like 5-6 hours maybe?)?

2. What is battery life like when gaming (like 2-3 hours maybe)?

3. What does power brick look like (e.g. does it plug into one of the Thunderbolt ports, or does it plug into a proprietary/barrel plug)?

I have the 4090 version of this laptop and I keep it connected to power 99% of the time, so I can't answer #1 or #2 for you, but I can tell you that for #3 it's a proprietary 330W brick that's pretty hefty. I believe it does allow some kind of power via the USB-C connections in the back, but it definitely won't go into Performance or Turbo mode using that method.

Does your 4090 helios 18 thermal throttle on the 14th gen intel cpu? I read that people had issues since the cooling system wasnt robust enough? The gpu shouldnt have an issue, im just worried about the cpu.

I haven't done a ton of testing, so I can't tell you for sure. Sorry. But everything you're reading is probably pretty accurate. When the fans kick on, you definitely notice. It's a great desktop replacement laptop though, IMO. The screen is gorgeous and it's much cheaper than some of the alternatives in its class. I look it as even though it may be throttled a bit, I'm still future-proofed for the time being and maybe after a few yeas I'll revisit my needs to see if there are any better options at that time.

I have the 13900hx and 4080 and the cooling is about the same. And left to the laptop it will throttle in minutes of any game. But if you're willing to do a little bit of work. You can get over it. I did ptm7950 on the cpu and gpu and mx6 on the vrms. Believe it or not the Liquid Metal wasn't holding up to well. I also use a klim turbo frost. One or the other would suffice….. but nerds be nerding!

Thanks for the replies. I dont mind nerding out and repasting but it seems kinda a waste to do it on a brand new system. I think the lack of a vapor camber was a bad move from acer thats why the 2025 laptops have the vapor chambers now. Ive been eyeing those refurbished ones from ebay especially the 4090 with the mini led screen but it looks like i wont be persuing these laptops anymore. I dont want throttling and acer doesnt let you undervolt. All locked down. Guess i will pay a little more for the lenovo with amd cpu.

Will this hit $1500 soon? I. need the 18" for work but don't really need the 4080, 4070 would be fine.
