It's crazy to me how bad value pc gaming has become.
A ps5 that came out 4 years ago at 400$ gets better performance than that"850$ on sale PC" in gaming

I agree that PC gaming is generally a poor value (and I'm a PC gamer myself), but I wouldn't go so far to say that this is outperformed by a PS5, despite having lower tier components.

Besides, a computer is a lot more than just a gaming machine. Sure, consoles can do more than just game as well, but PCs can't be compared to consoles in a direct apples-to-apples scenario because they can do so much more.

That's not a knock on console gaming either - there's something about being able to spend a few hundred on a console, hook it up to your TV, and have a good gaming experience right off the bat. Consoles have their place.

Back to this PC, I think it's an okay value. Not tremendous but not terrible. Keep in mind if you're the upgrading type, the AM5 platform already has some built-in advantages. A few years down the road you could slot in a better graphics card and upgrade the CPU to either a higher tier 7000 series or 9000 series chip. PCs can be kept alive for a long time if you're of that mindset. I kept my last gaming PC for 11 years before getting something newer (I went from a machine built around a third generation Intel chip to one built around 12th gen).

100% - I bought my Dell XPS 8500 13 years ago for about the same price and it came with a monitor, and is still running fine. At the time it was a similar level of performance as this is today: https://slickdeals.net/e/5828092-dell-xps-8500-desktop-core-i7-3770-3-40ghz-12gb-ddr3-2tb-hdd-blu-ray-rom-geforce-gt-640-win-8-24-dell-u2412m-ultrasharp-ips-1920x1200-led-monitor-1000-free-shipping

lmao you did not just call a GTX 640 a "similar level". That thing was ready for the garbage before being put in a PC.

Well just wanted to let you know that you are way off base with that comparison. You could get by on a much cheaper system than this if that works for your needs. I'd suggest a mini pc under $300 if you are looking for something new.

So you peruse the new computer deal postings to remind people that what they have already works just fine?
