The ink in my desktop Epson printer is $300 per set of small ink tanks. Granted they use low quality paper here but stores uses pretty good printers most of the time. $3 per is more than I'd pay for this quality but it is less than I'd charge someone else for a print from my home setup.

For the 5x7, yes. Smaller prints are a lot cheaper.

If you are talking about the full resolution option, it will not make any difference at this size of a print.
