If no hurry, wait for 1or 2 months. It comes down to 660$ just like q990c. I am waiting for that price.

The sound bar has 7 front speakers and 2 Atmos speakers. 3 on the left, 1 center, 3 on right. Then the 2 Atmos are on top.
They are positioned one pointing 90° left, one 45° left, one directly facing seating on left. Center is directly front of bar. Right mirrors the left. One Atmos speaker on top each side.

Then the surrounds each have 2 front facing speakers and one Atmos speaker.
Positions are 1 facing left, one facing directly behind towards bar, 1 Atmos facing up. Right mirrors left.

One subwoofer.

There you have it folks, an 11.1.4 sound bar with 15 actual speakers in 3 enclosures.

Like I said, you just gotta be smarter than the sound bar.

And I wasn't defending anything, just explaining to your birdness how there are actually all 11.1.4 speakers in there when the bird himself said there were 3.

I said it once and I'll say it again. Bird. Brain. 🐦 🧠

Understand?

And you have clearly never heard this sound bar, it is one of if not the top rated sound bar out there. Like it or not, some folks need or just want a sound bar for either space constraints or aesthetics.

Either way, there are definitely positively 100% indubitably 15 speakers and a sub packed in this neat little package. And anyone with more than a bird brain knows that 15 is 12 more than 3, which is what you initially claimed genius. Now you are trying to make it about whether it sounds good or not.

No one cares if you think it sounds good (spoiler: it does sound good).

Id be upset and defend my bad purchase of an $800 soundbar too if I was in your shoes.
Wowsers. It's amazing how peeps downplay it without even listening to it.

I have Q990C and it's one heck of a soundbar and am amazed at how Samsung packed all the 15 speakers in 3 enclosures. Hats off to them for selling it for $700.

Btw, check out the rtings review if you have doubts about the quality or for that matter, any other review which says it's not a good system. I bet you to find one bad review of this sounbar!

And you actually believe that there are 9 speakers that work well in a 48" enclosure?

I'm well aware of how this stuff works, my main setup is totem tribes. My family room is some motion 35s.
Dude. I also love home theater stuff. But even for a dime-a-dozen home theater snob, you are acting pretty pathetic here.

Sure, you've got Totems and Motions that cost 8 times the soundbar and probably sounds much better.

Sure, you've probably been tinkering with sound systems for years and know your shit.

Sure, this 11.1.4-channels-but-not-in-completely-separate-enclosures contraption may not strictly fit the "traditional" definition of sound channels.

So what?

You're failing to recognize that
1. People live different lives. Not everyone wants to invest so much time / money / room square footage / room aesthetic compromises into dedicated systems. Many people just want a system that's low profile, easy to set up, and decent sounding.
2. For the aforementioned demographics, this is one of the best solutions, especially for $900, and will probably sound better than most entry level dedicated sound system in the same price range and much easier to set up;
3. You're clearly trying really hard justifying yourself (which, by the way, almost never works in an argument).
4. And so on.

I mean, it's 2007, a cultured gentleman like you is enjoying to your state-of-the-art Blackberry with the best tactile QWERTY typing experience, enterprise-level encryption, ultra long battery life, rock solid build quality, and so on. The less enlightened sheep are flocking to try their hands on a new iPhone crap that sucks for typing, won't last a day before battery dies, and cracks with a small drop. But why would a fine gentleman like you care?

Just let people have their fun.

If you're still not getting it, consider consulting a developmental psychologist. Something ain't quite right about social emotional processing there.

The brotha can't stomach new tech matching or beating his thousands of dollars of legacy hardware at a fraction of the price.

Can't get the EPP discount. Can we look for these to go on a sale for everyone soon?
Woot had them for 900 few weeks ago though there were reports of Canadian model been shipped by woot which might compromise the warranty! Good luck

Can you get 11.1.4 sound from 3.5mm jack? That's what I see in from projector output.
The soundbar will upscale your stereo signal to 11.1.4 in adaptive mode. It is very decent upscaling IMO.

A lot of smack back and forth here. For anyone on the fence about this, just get it. I'm an old geezer who has set up plenty of 5.1 and 7.2 systems. I bought this for my parents who wanted something simple. I couldnt believe that a stupid sound bar could beat multiple separate huge bi amp speakers - how's that even possible? But yet it's not even close, imagine my surprise when this sound bar blew my full av theater setup out of the water with default out of the box settings. I'm going to sell all my speakers and my amp now.
If you are willing to spend thousands on a full av system, then you should look into the nakamichi dragon

This is quite entertaining. Thanks tho

guy said the sub "rumbled his bed 2 floors up" that's still not as crazy as this being an 11.1.4 setup
Dude, I get where you are coming from and admire your "calm" responses but you posted in a soundbar deal bashing the whole thing!! You have to look at it from a different angle:
- Soundbars have came along way and they are very appealing for the right price.
- Not everyone has the space, mentality or budget to go for an old school component system. For these people, including me (live in an apartment), the entertainment value provided by these bars, especially the 990 at EPP pricing, is a game changer both in audio quality and setup ease.
People have different opinions and to each his own.

I didn't say it is as good as high end amp powered speakers. But there are that many speakers in it.

Rting says latency is 90ms for atmos. That's definitely noticeable to me. Are people not experiencing lip syncing issues?

There is so much back and forth about this SB setup.
If you can not provide your own personal experience of the product, then move on.
If you don't see this product in your space, then move on.

There is no point arguing on the basis of how it looks or size of it. This is a sound bar, talk about how it sounds.
