I love the trend towards laptops becoming lighter and lighter, while phones are becoming heavier and heavier. So one day they'll converge and weigh the same??
What is Ceraluminum? Is it a better material for laptops than magnesium alloy?
It's an amalgamation of ceramic and aluminum. "Ceraluminum's unique creation process involves submerging aluminum in hot water and incorporating a ceramic element, resulting in a distinct speckled appearance (it has a nice texture to it, too). Notably, this method is also environmentally friendly, replacing the traditional acid-based aluminum anodization process with pure water. This also means that the two color options, Iceland Gray and Zabriskie Beige, are not painted or dyed but rather a result of the oxidation process in the Ceraluminum's creation, so if you scratch it, you won't see a sliver of material below it. Plus, it's (relatively) smudge-free. Wild stuff."
Interesting that the review says $899. This is a slower chip than the X1 Elites, more akin to the U power Intel chips so the battery life on this should be bonkers. Interesting package, but it doesn't quite feel slick.

It's almost Guaranteed that laptops with this budget CPU and no-frills display will be in the $600 range in a few months. What's this model have going for it? 32GB RAM.
But a couple months ago, was this deal for an Asus S15 with X Elite, 32GB RAM and 3K 120Hz OLED for $999.
IMO, at $1099, this "budget" Snapdragon laptop isn't a deal.

ASUS will release a $899 version, more than likely 16GB RAM but it's not out yet. Neither of these sound very exciting though, to be honest, unless you specifically are looking for a 2lb laptop that can go all day. That's about all these have going for them.

Rigghttt, I should know by now, they'll quote the lowest spec model price.

The 16gb $899 version will be a best buy exclusive.
BTW, many at ces this year considered this to be the #1 laptop at ces this year. The main attraction is the insanely light weight yet great build quality and the insane battery life. If you don't care for the weight, move along.
Personally I agree at this price it should have a better screen. I would rather get the lunar lake Zenbook S 14 with 3k touchscreen oled screen at 2.6 lbs.
Best to wait until the 16gb version hits sub 500 open box. I am sure the great doc will let us know when that happens!

Lol. I just checked my MC page. The computer you reference is in stock (for me) at that same $999 price.
