On paper, the specs look great, and is a better value than other WiFi 7 routers. Plus, Asus has free protection, etc. and a good reputation. And the "expert" review (dongknowstech) said it was good.
I bought it for $183 (15% off $219 for an old router trade in, + $5 member certificate at BestBuy) and tried it for 2 weeks. It was problem after problem (disconnects, thermal errors, core spikes, unstable speed). The forums are full of frustrated users with these problems. I tried a second unit (good value, worth a shot) and had the same issues. Replaced it with another brand wifi 7 router and it has been reliable with a stronger signal (it's a TP-Link unit, not everyone may buy with the ban threats)

Maybe a firmware issue will fix this in the future, but it's not worth it for now. I'm hoping Asus will fix it and it'll be a good choice in the future.
Plus it has been this price for a few weeks now, so I'm guessing it'll be available at this price in the future.

Merlin will probably come for this router eventually, since it's not an obscure model and the price point is right on target.
I assume most people are after the 10Gb and 2.5Gb ethernet ports. In which case, sticking with 6 or 6E is a better option for now.
Did you check it after a bit after the reset? Right after my hard reset (after FW update, and several other times), thermal errors disappeared and core usage dropped, but after a few hours, they all came back. Hope yours is still stable, but I didn't have good luck on 2 different units.
Just sharing to warn potential buyers of what they may face. Good luck, hope yours continues to be stable!

Honestly, it's stable and fast, pushing 160MB/s for SMB (Windows wired to Windows wireless) transfers.
Speeds are exactly what FIOS can provide me: 940 down and 940 up. The settings transferred right over from my AX-86u.
All of my 2.5gb devices and switches are humming along at the rated speeds.
One of the best things is the flexible WAN input configs. WAN can be 10 Gb for something like Xfinity's new 5.5, 4, and 3Gb services or, it can be the primary 2.5Gb port, allowing for slower ISP connections to not waste a 10Gb port.
(By contrast, my TP-Link BE11000 can only use the 10Gb port for WAN or upstream when functioning in AP-only mode. I'm not sure if it's possible to change at all. It's labeled WAN on the back vs the WAN/LAN designation on the ASUS.) Oh, and for future plans, I was going to add Cox 2Gb service. This router can both load balance and fail over… so 3/1.1 Gb max or 1/1 Gb max/2/0.1 Gb in failover mode. The USB implementation is fast. It can hit 240 MBps on 2.5Gb connections. I haven't tested the 10 Gb, yet for USB.
My iPhone 16 Pro Max hits exactly the FiOS-limited speeds as well around 930-940 Mbps.
Honestly, there isn't much to dislike here.
The only thing that annoyed me is the baffling decision to not include NIC teaming/bonding for any port. This would have allowed for a dual-2.5Gb NAS to run at 5Gb.
It is an ASUS router, though… which means it's the opposite of user friendly. Configuring MLO was particularly weird as it has to be set in two completely different sections. They also have an 'MLO fronthaul' option which isn't given a description in the web UI.
Otherwise… fast, stable, complicated, configurable, all-round great router so far.
Hydra wifi 6e 30 MB/s wireless / 90 MB/s wired.
RT-BE96u wifi 7 30 MB/s wireless / 60 MB/s wired,
BE5000 wifi 7 35 MB/s wireless / didnt test wired
The be5000 lacks 6ghz so its surprising that its the fastest.
Updated firmware (v3.0.0.6.102_37435) immediately due to widespread stability issue reports, set up 6ghz, 5ghz and 2.4ghz networks to connect work PC, mobile devices and IoT devices, respectively. Easy to setup, easy to update firmware, reports are its rock solid
Wifi 7 6ghz range feels mediocre (vs 5ghz Wifi 6) but I couldn't say if that is the router or the nature of a higher bandwidth wireless connection

People don't seem to realize that while some devices allow you to run both simultaneously, you really shouldn't.
Even trying to hotspot with 6Ghz on a mobile device informs you that it's going to turn off other radios to accomplish it.
If you need to support 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz, and 6Ghz simultaneously, you're better off running two or even three routers.
