I freaking loved this show when I was a kid. Sadly, it doesn't hold up well at all today imo.

I freaking loved this show when I was a kid. Sadly, it doesn't hold up well at all today imo.

I know it's SD but has it at least been digitally enhanced to DVD quality (720 x 480)
Some TV shows look like they did when they first broadcast !

It's greatly enhanced if you watch it knowing the actor that played Willy is actually extremely mad. Read up on it lol he absolutely hated the show.

Edit - oh wow and tabloid pictures of drug abuse.

Ha!I remember Tina Fey saying it was difficult dealing with ALF's handlers. ALF was on NBC's 75th anniversary special.

This show was QUITE the deal back in the day (yes, I'm old.) The series had a big fan following, talk shows, and news articles about it, even a cartoon series.
Memorable episodes:
-Alf called the White House to voice his concerns about nuclear weapons and they had misinterpreted the call as a threat.
-Alf fought off a giant alien Roach
-Alf rigged the TV ratings so this show called Polka Jamboree was rated number 1.
-the Tanner's older male relative, I believe father, step father or uncle, accidently sees ALF and dies of a heart attack; there is this clash of beliefs where the family is in mourning but ALF's culture celebrates death.

At least they've finally restored the original 24 minute versions of these episodes. Up until a little over a year ago, there was a period of about 20 years in which the only available episodes in the US were 21 minute versions that were badly butchered.

They kinda made an ending to ALF with a movie... however, people who watched it said it was half-assed in terms of plot.
