bought one a year ago at full price and has been working somewhat well but my hose has a leak in it frum rubbing against the wall.

No, they run off the system pump.
It doesn't take much to run it my pump is running at 1060rpm and it's working fine. I have cartridge filters and i run my pump 24/7 only uses 70 watts/hr
