Here is what one of the online reviews for this says:
"Mamas, let me tell you… My husband and I (yes, two college-educated adults!) spent *six hours* of our precious naptime/after-bedtime sanity assembling this "toy" for our kids. No wine, no caffeine—just pure determination. And guess what? My 7-year-old, along with his 5- and 3-year-old siblings, stared at it for *five minutes* before wandering off to play with… a cardboard box. 🥴
When we begged, 'Please don't touch it, it's super delicate!' (rookie mistake, I know), of course they waited until we turned our backs. Then *boom*—the chain jammed, the whole thing started folding in on itself like a black hole, and suddenly we've got crumpled tracks, screeching kids, and my living room looking like a mini tornado hit.
Now, after *seven total hours* of building and rebuilding, this 'fun' toy has given us… *maybe* 20 minutes of peace? 😅 Save your time, mamas—this one's better left on the store shelf! 🙈

I think the problem here is expecting this to be a toy for all kids. This isn't meant for parents to assemble and kids to play with in the traditional sense. This is a toy meant for kids that have an interest in engineering, kids who are interested in Lego mindstorm, K'nex, etc. Kids who want to build something and then see it work, then take it apart and put it back together differently. This is exactly the kind of toy I would have spent hours playing with as a child.

Helicopter parents can't fathom their child doing anything without their involvement
My 10 year old put this together mostly on his own. Maybe 6-8 hours of work? I helped with the final angles on the track to make the cars loops all the way back to the chain. It has held up for about a month now and I still hear him turn on the motor for the chain mechanism. I think for $14 this is a great deal for any kid interested in engineering/STEM.

It says "ages 8+" on the box, and if they're assembling it for their kid, I think they're missing the point. This is for kids like me who could spend hours playing with Legos or an erector set. I am buying this for myself as an adult.

I had a knex screamin serpent roller coaster when I was a kid, built it myself when I was around 10. The thing was twice the size of this. Not sure why you would buy this and then build it for your kid, that's entirely against the point of building sets.
