This is a decent deal, but may not be the slickest. With S&S, this deal is 41 cent per capsule. To compare, last June, I got 4 boxes of 40 with S&S for 38 cent per capsule.

If anyone curious about the range of price for Nespresso Original line capsule, the lowest I've ever purchased was Amazon Fresh variety pack, 100 capsules with S&S for 8c per capsule. On the other hand, retail price of Nespresso's own Original capsule is 85c per capsule. My all time average buying Original line capsules from Amazon (with S&S) is 26c per capsule.

9, 10 decent shade worse than nespresso

8, 11 and caramel quite inferior to nespresso - similar to Starbucks quality.

There are deals for 60c a pod nespresso off and on here. I personally think that's a better value.

I would place in the middle tier of the non-Nespresso capsule. I think Peet's and L'Or are superior. My main cmplaint about Lavazza, is with their function, I find that they release a fair mount of water, before the coffee starts flowing. So much that I usually hold my cup to the side of the stream and wait to hear the pop of the foil that then move my cup into position.

I partially dissagree about Starbucks, some of the Starbucks are upper tier 3rd party and some are middle tier. Although they are essentially Nespresso capsule manufactured through a licensing agreement.

For the price I paid, I think Amazon Fresh was quite acceptable, assuming that you've a good working pump that's able to correctly pull a shot with correct extraction rate. I do think that Nespresso's own capsule (along with Starbucks) still have an edge in term of extraction quality due to their (still patented) paper filter inside the capsule and silicone gasket on the ring to prevent leaks. At least brands like L'Or, Lavazza, or Target has raised rubber gasket to help prevent leaks. Other third party brands only have some kind of paper gasket on the ring.
