100% agree. It's extremely slow and burns through batteries. When I got mine years ago, I used it with a brand new recip blade and fully charged battery, cut through 2 2x4s, and the battery was dead. People say nice things about the fuel version though.
The stroke just isn't long enough on the non fuel hackzall.

If you are getting a travel trailer/RV this is a great set to start. I love the inflator for the tires and even four wheeling to deflate the jeep tires and inflate back. I would recommend over time getting a couple bigger batteries and an impact driver. Then you can look at the little wet dry vac, and the grease gun is nice. A Rover light is a must and I see a deal here for 59 bucks on one of those, And, OK, I'll stop now. And the nice things about M12 is the smaller footprint and weight. I even like the cheaper old brushed versions as they tend toward being smaller than the fuel versions. If you gotta go into cabinets inside the house or an RV or small spaces, that is when the M12 line really shines imho.

Because their ratchet is meant to be used and turned by hand. You hit the power switch to zip the fastener or nut off and on.

I'm a noob with "quality" tools. I get this is a good deal at 50% off, but I've seen similar deals for other brands. Is Milwaukee THAT much better than Rigid? My main point about Rigid is that they provide lifetime warranty on the batteries. Which sounds like a good thing for a moderate DIYer that maybe doesn't use these tools on a daily basis. And if you're someone that doesn't use these things too regularly the battery may fail sooner? or am I totally wrong?

Same parent company. Milwaukee are their better tools. Ridgid are far from crap usually, but their lifetime service agreements/warranty leave a lot to be desired when something actually dies. It's only valid for as long as they make that EXACT model IIRC, and they will screw you eventually with that.

Bring your batteries indoors during winter. Charge them before storage. Top them off every 3-6 months whether you've used them or not. Li-Ion from a reputable brand with good cells inside will last you a long time.

What kills lithium cells is running them completely dead. Once they fall below a threshold voltage, their protection circuits prevent them from charging again, and at that point the "pack" is ruined. Generally it's the middle cell hooked up to the LEDs and monitoring circuitry inside the pack running 24/7 even when it's not in a tool slowly draining that 1 cell while the rest remain full charged. So when you go to use a battery that hasn't been charged in a year, the tool sees nearly full voltage from the pack and goes to town. By the time the outer cells are low enough to bring the total voltage down for the tool to shut off, that middle cell has drained below said threshold and the pack is now "dead." That is what kills Li-Ion packs. Their balancing circuitry to prevent this by reversing the differences only operates when it's being charged.

I bought this kit to toss in my travel trailer. I use the hex driver to run the stab-jacks up and down... it only has enough torque to extend the jack, but I hand level once it meets the ground. The inflator, flashlight, and ratchet are a nice addition. I also tossed in a socket set along with a tire patch kit. The bag is large and has room for a few extra tools.
