Yes, because you're also getting double the storage.

LOL, 5 of their 2-in-1's to date and zero broken hinges. Guess I got lucky.

I will say F- this exact eBay Lenovo store and good luck if you try to seek help from other Lenovo customer service (website, 800 #, etc). They will tell you they can't help and you get to deal with exclusively with the single CSR who fields all eBay messages...."Robert." eBay was zero help either. I also learned my lesson of paying for Paypal transactions with bank drafts not CC payments, no charge back option

*somehow managed to type this message using the exact same SKU and a hinge has not exploded yet EEK!

The Ryzen 5 8645HS version (16GB/512GB) is also on sale for $540. Worth the additional $60 for the Ryzen 7 8845HS?

All 5 are Ideadpad 5 2-in-1? Not all of their products are bad, but ideadpad 5 (and ideapad 3) is a particularly known culprit.

I was personally affected, Ideapad 5 pro less than 3 years old. When I bought it, I had read that they had supposedly "fixed" it. Nope. I had also read the "pro" had a better hinge. Nope, the pro gives you better specs and CPU but still the same chassis. I don't trust the ideadpad line anymore, but you do you.

But I get what you are saying. Pretty much every laptop thread on SD, someone is complaining about something on a brand of laptop. Lenovo, Asus, Dell, HP, Acer, Samsung, all of them. Who is there to trust anymore?

Ideadpad's, Flex's, Yoga's. Owned a mix and all have the exact same hinge type on their 2-in-1's. Nothing wrong with the design based on my rather extensive experience (compared to your average user).

Frankly you'd be hard pressed to find any 2-in-1 from any manufacturer, or laptop in general, without people on the internet complaining about the only moving part. They'll also likely rant about screen cracking, keyboards sticking, something about the trackpad and ports not working. The few common points of failure will by no surprise overwhelm the complaints.

BTW, I heard Fords are known to have flat tires when Chevy's and Ram's also share the exact same design but are subjectively better somehow Wink

So a single failure on a 3 year old laptop? I cannot fathom how that could be possible that something might break 3x past the end of the warranty and after many years of use. *Mind blown.*

Like you, I have also owned many laptops which have not had any hinge issues. I would think most people would expect when they buy a laptop that it lasts more than 3 years.
You are probably right, that complaints on the internet probably are way overblown and for the most part you are not likely to have issues. But when you hear about complaints on a certain line of laptop and it happens to you as well, it does sting and leaves a scar.

Perhaps I will just keep it to myself next time.

I understand that past models for years ago (even last year) have had issues. But I can't find any issues with these new models.

But there won't be info until few years from now. Same thing happened to me. It was supposedly fix with the generation I bought but it was too new and so it turned out it wasn't.

OK... I have this laptop but I purchased a certified refurbished for $450.
It is strong enough to emulate Nintendo switch games. It can play most new games on lowest settings. The screen is just OKish but good enough.
I don't know if I would spend $600 vs $450.

I trust no one and I just buy based on specs.

Garbage soldered RAM, why do they keep doing this? Can I at least add another 16 gig stick?

Why can't they ever put a decent screen in these? Ugh
