Yea that snapdragon had a better screen for the same price. Wondering if this CPU will dodge those issues some have with the snapdragon and make it worth it. Really looking for the best option under 600 so I'm open to suggestions lol
Higher resolution (and 15" s 14"), but 16:9 aspect ratio vs this one's 16:10. I find 16:10 screens WAY more practical for everyday use.

I was about to buy the Snapdragon version awhile back until i saw the 16:9.

That said, I wound up with a Dell Latitude with the same Snapdragon Plus CPU and haven't had any issues with it at all. The computer feels really quick. Obviously it'd be awful/unusable for gaming, but I don't use it for that so no big deal.

I got the 15 inch snapdragon version of this yesterday. Besides portability is this one better in any way? This i5 better than the snapdragon?
ABSOLUTELY at this price. Dr. Wajahat is responsible for most of my laptops so far Big Grin I got the Vivobook 3K OLED Snapdragon X Plus for $300 open box excellent, but returning it due to an unreliable Windows ARM64 Wi-Fi driver where it is my only Wi-Fi device that has a problem connecting from our patio. All the rest of my devices get max WiFi speeds at the same spot from my 5GbE fiber. I can troubleshoot it further but potential similar driver problems in the future makes it not worth my time. Lunar Lake processors are the best low power CPUs in the market right now, even better than Snapdragon's boasted efficiency, and the only good low power for x86 (full Linux compatibility). If you are buying for the OLED screen for mostly media consumption, I'd get the best screen at the same price, but for portable media production you will not get Adobe support and for most other professional media creation software. Windows ARM64 is practically a ChromeOS (Chromebook) with semi-working emulation for Windows (x86) apps, not too different from the Windows S mode for the disposable cheap laptops. Yes this I think is the best laptop deal this year so far. Do note that while I'm in the "16GB RAM is enough for this price" crowd, it's important to note that these modern "AI" processors with "unified memory" will share your RAM with any GPU tasks (UMA buffer) unless you have a switchable discrete GPU.

Is the screw drive something out of the ordinary or were they over tightened? I've ran across some torx screws in laptops and a few i can't remember right now.
The center screw on the bottom panel is covered by a sticker that is hard to remove without scratching the panel, other than that it is easy to replace the ssd. The screws are torx but that is fairly common on laptops now and they are much better because they won't strip like phillips.

Bought this to replace a 5 yr old laptop (that has a flickering screen) so not familiar w/ laptops these days - are people replacing the 512 SSD in this for more storage or for speed?

Just bought and will return the Macbook Air M2 (for $700) - love the weight and thinness of it but couldn't get used to MacOS and this one is just as light (and has a better screen I think?).

Yea. I just can't do the 16gb ram limit. Win11 and Chrome will destroy that ram in no time...

It depends.

I wouldn't advise Snapdragon to anyone who doesn't really understand what they're doing. Everything will be fine, until you run across something that just refuses to work. Say you want to install a VPN. Some work, some don't.

Gotta be kidding me. I bought this for $649 back during Christmas. I decided I really needed 32GB of Ram and bought the Walmart deal. However, I'm outside my return window. I just want to get my money back, but this will make it much harder to sell on marketplace.

If you have 32gb of ram, you must have the snapdragon version or the core ultra 7 series two processor vs the core 5 in this one.

Yes, I bought the Core Ultra 7 version (32GB ram) with the walmart deal yeterday to replace the Core Ultra 5 version (16GB Ram) I bought 2 months ago. Now I'm trying to sell the 16GB one.

This looks so good for the price. Such a shame that Best Buy doesn't ship to APO/FPO addresses. Finding tech overseas is such an overpriced disaster if you can find it at all. Where I live all the electronics stuff is 2-3x more expensive and it's all 1-2 years old tech even for the newly released stuff. Soooo frustrating.

No fingerprint sensor really stinks. That's almost a must feature for me, but I'll get used to the face recognition (which doesn't work well yet) or PIN, I guess.

When it does the registration, it says already registered. Wondering if that's because I got an open box? But, when I did chat and put in registration issue and then put in my SN, it said to contact Best Buy for all warranty issues.
