Better than the Q691G and the Hisense QD7 that are $100 less. (though the 691G clearance deal for $400 at Costco last Fall was a better bang for the buck deal.) But it's great to see prices coming down on some of the better TVs.
By next Fall, 120-144Hz 75" tvs should drop below the $500 price point, if the tariffs don't drive prices back up too much by then... Otherwise, this may be our best sweet spot for a while.
Finally got a chance to go to the store to see these TVs in person, and almost all of them were fine. You'd have to be looking at them from almost a 70 degree angle for the average person to notice any degradation.

Even before all the " wide viewing technology" that some LCDs have, everyone knew you were giving up some viewing angle on an LCD TV versus plasma or OLED
However, it seems that the Chinese panels take this to an extreme over what was considered " average " or normal"
I have had many older LCDs in the past and thought I knew what to expect
However, after buying the Hisense U8H, I was amazed at just how narrow the " sweet spot" is when viewing the TV

I watched the Super Bowl for a few minutes last night it looked great!
Isn't the whole point to let us know exactly what differences there are between a $3000 tv, a $1000 tv, a $500 tv and trash, and to decide between the different models in each level, based on our own preferences? if they gave everything a 9+ in everything, what would be the difference between a $3000 tv and a $300 one?
We're talking about a $1500 MSRP tv that got a 7.9 mixed usage rating, and a 7.4 for sports.
If all we wanted to know is know if if the tv worked, pretty much all of them would get a "pass" rating. It's not like they don't give us literally hundreds of criteria in minute details in numbers, graphs, ratings and descriptions to help us decide for ourselves exactly which factors are most important to us to make our own decisions.

I just dealt with it, assuming the panel sucked, went into a store and saw my same TV - didn't have that issue. Turns out I just had a bad one.

There is nothing wrong with my Hisense....all their TV's with VA panels have very poor viewing angles
