Yep, seeing this deal made me look at the shop Samsung app and I saw it was $270 with pick up today at Bestbuy. Seems like about as good of a deal as you can get today on a reputable brand tablet with a stylus and a respectable amount of software support in the future.

Still beating myself up for not seeing the Tab S9 FE deal for $126 back in December on Samsung's website. This $300 price isn't a deal.
To me, this is not a deal because of the iplay60 mini turbo that sells for $130ish... it is pretty much identical speed, where the iplay60 has USB-C to HDMI out, so it can also be used as a android box for your TV on the fly Smilie.
Differences are (1) screen size (2)iplay60 turbo has more memory - 8GB vs 6GB (3) iplay60 has better usb port that includes video - usb 3.1 where the Samsung does not. (4) samsung comes with a pen. (5) Samsung has better screen... not by much.
But one sells for $130ish (Regular Price) and the other sells for $300 on sale... AGAIN... IDENTICAL SPEED, the cheaper tablet has better guts.

What I am saying is I don't care who makes it... I want to know how fast it is (is it high end or low end), hence... how fast your tablet preforms assuming 8GB of RAM. And the FACT that Alldocube's Iplay60 mini turbo is the SAME SPEED but it's usb-C port can do HDMI out and it sells for about $130sih on aliexpress should tell you that this CPU is considered the new LOW END.
I don't think the Samsung chip is low end. It's based on a 5nm process, so it's going to be efficient and generate less heat, which means a longer battery life and a longer device life. It is a mid range chip.

I think we're typically comparing Qualcomm to Mediatek, where Qualcomm does benefit from brand identity and being based in the US. Mediatek is known for making affordable chips, and in a place like this, many people avoid devices with Mediatek chips because they're usually low end because we're saving money here.

I think the manufacturer does matter because there is a style to the fabrication and product line development unique to the manufacturer. Some companies don't have access to any process smaller than 7nm. Some companies sacrifice heat for performance to compete with better chips.

Yup, your typical streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, etc all work perfect on this tablet. Probably my primary use for the tablet around the house.

We will agree to not agree.
You don't think this chip is NOT low end cause it is based on 5nm process... I think it is low end because CHEAP CHINESE Tablets are using the SnapDragon 6 Gen 1 for $130ish. It is IDENTICAL in speed to this CPU.
I don't care who makes who... I also don't care to much about efficiency, I ONLY care about how fast a particular CPU is. You think I am calling out one based on their name... LOL, I am calling them out based on benchmarks.
What you are talking about is jibber jabber... I am talking about benchmarks and the real world prices.
Alldocube Iplay60 mini turbo sells for $130ish it has better CPU, better usb-c port (usb3.1), more RAM with 8GB of RAM... how the F can this be considered a deal?

You keep bringing up Alldocube, but i'd argue there's a significant portion of users who would avoid some of the generic no-name Chinese brands out there for multiple reasons, especially around security and support. To each their own if you just want the best price/performance to emulate some games, but it's not a stretch for people to want to stick to reputable brands for an Android tablet like Samsung, Lenovo, etc.

Look... to each their own, I get it.
I mention the iplay60 mini turbo because it is the best value of any tablet right now. Here is an article about alldocube. https://www.gizchina.com/2018/09/...ick-recap/ POINT IS, Alldocube is not a complete unknown.
I personally am not a fan of Samsung because of the amount of bloatware and the fact that it is WAY OVER PRICED.
If you are doing your banking, etc... I would recommend doing that on your phone or get a Chromebook.

Price is relative to each person's use case and situation. You asked "why the F is this a deal" and I'd argue that it's a discounted price on a more reputable tablet and brand that someone wouldn't be afraid to log in to personal accounts or banking apps on at the same time as other entertainment uses, while knowing they can use it for 3 years and still get critical security updates without having to juggle work arounds or load something like LineageOS.

2/3 of the comments in this thread are from SociableKite; you can tell they feel very strongly about this subject.

Happy to hear from others on whether this can handle any slightly heavier applications (Word/Excel) without completely freezing up.

Purchased Tab 9 plus during the great trade in deal of 2024. It very nimble, great speed, color, etc. My only issue is that it is bulky, thick and heavy. I find myself using my old Tab A more.

Maybe people don't want an Alldocube Iplay60 mini turbo. What is an Alldocube Iplay60 mini turbo? Could there possibly be advantages to getting an S series Samsung Galaxy Tab over an Alldocube Iplay60 mini turbo?

Also, just Google "Samsung Exynos 1380 octa-core processor". All the results say it is a solid mid-range processor. I'm not even claiming this is high-end. I'm saying it's not low-end.

Why are you so mad?
