Ryobi warranty is terrible. They want you to take it to a "repair center" which is just someone's house in a run-down part of town. But they never really repair anything, just drag the process out for months until eventually you get a new one. So they do eventually honor the warranty, but the process is intentionally drawn out to make it painful.

I have one of these, works great, use it all the time, I was amazed how good it works and how long the battery lasts.

The last one I bought completely stalled (motor does not engage and the blade refuses to move). Was just being lightly used for home projects. Customer service wants me to take it to the nearest repair center on my own dime. Just pitched it in the garbage and bought the SKILSAW 15A Electric Worm Drive. I can live with the power cord given how smooth, powerful and accurate it is.

The best circular saw deals lately have been from Kobalt:
https://slickdeals.net/f/18084907-kobalt-24-volt-4-amp-6-1-2-in-brushless-cordless-circular-saw-kit-battery-charger-included-49?v=1&src=SiteSearch

I've been hoping for a sale like that on Ryobi though because I have so many Ryobi batteries.

That skil worm drive is a beast, I have had one for years. I'm actually looking at this model for a weight reduction and the portability. Skil will be there when I need it. My only hesitation is the blade is on the wrong side from the skil

Several brands make a cordless worm drive saw. I have the Ridgid and love it.

I have the ryobi 7 1/4 and hate it because the blade is on the wrong side for me, I'm right handed and can't see anything when I'm cutting. For whatever reason, the blade is on the correct side of the 6 1/2 inch version of this same tool, but it's really a pain to use this thing. With my old corded saw, I could cut pretty dang straight without a guide, with this 7 1/4 I'm all over the place.

I do hate a corded skill saw when ripping an 8 ft board. I like the reviews that share it has the power to drive a 7 1/4 blade without bogging down. I have a few of the old smaller blue ryobi circulars saws that I think were 5 1/2 blades, those stay mostly in a tool drawer due to lack or power and challenges to clear 1 3/4" inch 2x lumber. I have a collection of 7 1/4 blades and would like to cut the cord so this deal looks promising. Thanks for the post.
