I think most people interested in a 4k UHD Blu Ray player find the included streaming apps useless!

My 4K TV can stream, my Android box can stream, my game consoles and PCs can stream and all those things are already connected to the TV so why in the world would I need yet another thing that streams....... I got my Bluray player to play Bluray discs.

I bought my Panasonic player specifically for its upscaling chip. So I only let the player do the upscaling, pass straight through A/V receiver and TV without further upscaling (each piece of equipment have settings for these, you just need to find and set them). You don't need to have it do the same thing over and over, it might even mess with the quality of the output.

This player is trash, I bought one last year and it skips on almost every 4K movie I have. Don't waste your money on this and buy the Panasonic instead, it plays the same movies with no skipping.

Where are you going to rent bluray discs to play for this...the blockbuster went out of business and redbox is popular for DVD's....where are you going to rent bluray discs???? Shitty deal if you ask me....sony trying to get rid of a technology that is not in business....

I am thinking more in the line of downloading blueray remux torrents in mkv format and playing them from pc to tv using hdmi 2.0/2.1. This is more cheaper and you can watch all the latest movies for free of cost.

Well this is actually a 4k player which depending on the movie, the 4k version can add a lot compared to the standard blu-ray. I'm sure there are "4k" rips available to, but given the size I wouldn't be surprised if most are actually re-encoded to be smaller thus lower in quality. Not to mention, I would venture to say most folks are not into illegally acquiring their movies on the internet!

You have to go for rips that says bluray remux in mkv format which is a lossless extraction. It's illegal when you distribute a whole movie file to someone else but torrents bypass that restriction by dividing the rip to smaller parts and downloading it from several torrent peers. At the end the torrent client ties all the parts together and makes up the movie mkv file. So it's nothing illegal here as long as you are not distributing an entire movie to someone else. You are just downloading fragments. Makes sense??. If it's illegal the torrent client software won't even exist on the internet. And Shawshank redemption (top rated movie on IMDB) was famously known to be popularized through torrent sites and the director acknowledged it too. Same with The Man from Earth movie. What I am implying is try to invest money in exploring 4k hardware like home theater equipment (which is quite expensive these days) that can actually play these media rather than the media itself. You don't want to spend ton of money to buy or rent a bluray that you gonna watch only once.
