Decent deal but not a Slick Deal.
My thoughts: This is almost certainly old stock. It has the MICRO USB connector. The new ones have USB C connectors. Also, this one (SP40) has the XPL "pebbly" reflector, making it more of a spread-type, flood beam that is not as focused as the polished, super smooth reflector, the LH351D, as on the SP40A. In addition, other similar type lights have interchangeable batteries, where one can swap out the rechargeable with AAs. This is very useful when out in the bush, etc where you don't have access to, or want to carry, a charger. Having the ability to throw in universally available AAs is a very good feature since carrying around a power bank and cable is not as convenient in a crunch. Anyone out hunting, etc carries backup batteries. Adding a power bank and cable to your travel kit is not nearly as convenient, let alone fast. It is not reasonable to use this with a power bank in a crunch (if even possible).

I ordered 4 sc31 flashlights and they only sent me one. I emailed them today and am waiting for a response. If no response I will filename charge back. Did you get your $ back?

I sent mine back(sold through Amazon) It wouldn't stay at highest brightness. After some seconds...it would get more and more dim. I read that was it's design after researching for a while . Didn't like that. I wanted to like it, but just couldnt.
What you're looking for is a buck or boost type driver. Make sure to look for it when you're searching lights.

I'm a bit of a flashlight nerd, sofirn is pretty known out there, I have ordered from them twice and no issue either time.

The IF24 is one of my favorite little flashlights, very neat design. All the ones I have are usb-c charging, but im surprised more people don't have tons of micros laying around, I'd guess I have 50 of those cables in a box lol.

Energizer.
I have the Sp40 and the Energizer one. Both are 18650 but the build quality on sofirn is superior. A little heavier but you can tell the sofirn can take more of a beating than Energizer

That's the nature of "turbo" mode which is also the case for other brands with that mode. It will overheat if staying at that brightness. If you want to know the highest setting that can be sustained just look at the High mode in the specs. That's there to provide temporary extra brightness, like nitrous oxide boost for a car.

good question. id give my sp40 away if i could replace it with one that had usb-c. its one of the few gadgets i have around that is still micro.
H25S is usb-c and same LM and cheaper. I don't own it personally to comment on its utility .

Energizer.
I actually have both and the Sofirn is easily $5 better. The SP40 is much, much better made and the color from it is also a lot better. I think I got the Energizer on sale for like $5-7. And yes my wife thinks I'm crazy for owning so many flashlights. LOL

i had a Sofrin Q8 plus catch fire and started smoking. I might have used it for about 3 hours over 1 year at most. Company said you are welcomed to buy again.. no thanks... regret telling a few people to buy since i was initially very impressed

I love this exact headlight, but I wonder why none of these things ever have a low brightness, low speed strobe so you can be seen at night by cars without blinding the world or annihalating your battery.

This is nice and bright, it has a good strobe, it has a low intensity mode, and it easily the most comfortable headlight I own. It has a nice soft silicone for the part that touches you forehead and it is a real breath of fresh air over the others which just put an abrasive strap in contact with your skin. I've never swapped the battery ,the life is still fine. People with long hair will dislike the 3 point strap.

The Energizer is good too, I got like 2 of those for maybe $13 off SD when on deep sale years ago. Sofirn is "better" sure but sometimes you will prefer halo strap over 3 point strap. Energizer has a cooler color temperature.

I think this is like $5 less than I paid years ago, I'm surprised to see that. If the energizer was on sale for its old generous price I would buy like 20 and just put them everywhere.

Better yet, look at reviews with ramp down graphs. High mode will also ramp down to somewhere between high and medium in most compact flashlights.

Did anyone buy the Q8 based on your recommendation, and have theirs caught on fire also?

The HS21 has a red flashing mode (its only special mode).
