That is correct. And it doesn't work well there.
If you want to do some modification you certainly can. It just uses the regulator for the buddy heater to limit the flow. Low pressure from and RV could work, though they would certainly tell you not to do it.

The bummer is that the pilot light on the main unit is very easy to blow out. I was struggling to get the burner lighted until I (A) googled that the pilot light on the main heater HAD to be constantly on for this slave burner to light and (B) turned off my ceiling fan; on low. The fan was just above it, sure; but that had us blowing at it to see how easy it was, and if it would in turn shut down the already-burning burner linked here.
Yes it does, and sheesh, is it easy to blow out. Think a 3 year old doing a one-candle birthday cake. Blow out the main heater pilot (heater not on as a requirement, just IT'S pilot), and the burner starves out in around 20-25 seconds.
I still kept it, got the back-pack also; just something to know. It does absolutely slave, including the ludicrous requirement of the heater pilot light being on; so shield that.
A lot.

Thanks so much for this info! Explains why it wasn't working for me!
Got to admit, not sure I understand what you are saying. I have a Mr. buddy 18,000 BTU portable heater not sure if it is a flex heater. Can I connect this to that?
It only works with one specific model of buddy heater called the flex. It has a half cylinder heating panel instead of the usual square one on the front.
It is an odd engineering/design choice for sure.
Yes it's expired. We came late.
