You need at least S23 series. S22 has poor battery and gets toasty under load. Performance isn't an issue with the S22. I had the S22U before upgrading 2 years ago. Cameras are fairly similar, with most of the ultras being garbage at capturing moving objects.

Software is meh. OneUI on Android 12, 13, 14 and 15 are pretty similar. Latest version doubles down on AI junk. Security patches are what to look out for.

Theme S22U is a great phone. I just upgraded to the S25U from the S22U and the only benefit I've seen outside of "ai" is the battery life on the s25u

The s22u has 10x zoom va 5x on s25u, Bluetooth spen that s25 doesn't, super slow mo that s25 doesn't, and a curved screen which I prefer.

The s25 has better specs but it's not noticeable improvements imo.

I upgraded from an S22 Ultra to a S24 Ultra and I like the cameras on the S22 better.
Battery life is better on the S24 Ultra.

S23 is incredible still. Huge difference from s22u. Of course price is every. If s23u sees this price anytime in the next 18 months is would still be an instant buy

I have S22U and have been using it for the past 2 years... battery life is bad but if you turn on the power saving mode it gets better. However it defeats the purpose of using a high-end phone

Wife upgraded to the S24. The camera hardware seems to be a bit worse, but the software and processing is loads better. Think Samsung puts their cost savings into lesser camera parts and makes up for it in software.
