OLED is amazing. What's bad about WOLED specifically? LG C3 / C4 used the "EVO" panel with much brighter NITS ...

I'm always open to learning. I don't even know what WOLED is, and why it's bad as you're suggesting

I didn't say it was terribly bad. It's just that it's the same panels we've had for a while from LG.

It's just a shame that this tv doesn't use quantum dot oled and instead uses an oled with a white subpixel. WOLED as it's known. The color volume has been stagnant on WOLEDS and is lower than what QD-OLEDs can produce.

The two main OLED screen types based on subpixel layout now are : Samsung's QD-Oled and LG's WOLED
The main differences apart from subpixel layout are that QD-oled is newer tech and has better color while the w-oled has worse color and banding issues but better burn-in resistance due to improvements over time from LG.

Holding off on newer tech will always bring the cost up when it releases. It's best to focus on needs today and find the best price today.

How does this perform as a monitor? 42" is the max I'll go for a desktop screen.

With PAW, 10% off coupon and cash back, I bought 65 inch, s90d for about $945(including tax) just a week ago.
And also got LG 77' C3 from bby for $1104. Need to decide which one to keep and which on to return

I can't speak about the specifics of this monitor, but I use the LG 42" C2, and I absolutely love it for mixed usage of pc gaming (4ft desk), photo editing, and movies. Its nice to have a 42 inch in the bedroom so you can sit further away. its all viable because you need to set a custom resolution to 21:9 when you're up close, and switch back to default when you're farther away. I use CRU to set a custom resolution and there are plenty of tutorials on YT for it.

Right now they'll only give 10% off for the 48" and up. The 42" is on some exclusion list.

If we always delayed for what's soon to be released, we never have anything new. Jump in and stoke the economy!

The Rtings link and review for this TV are misleading. They did not test this 42 inch version that has a WOLED panel. They tested the larger format with a QDOLED panel. So almost all of the info in that review plus comparisons to the LG C4 aren't valid.
