I have this tool and I like it. Just know that it's not all that "Subcompact" when compared to Ridgid's other subcompact tools, like the drill, impact driver, 3" multi-material saw or impact wrench.

This recip is about 14" long without a blade or a battery and weighs 4 lbs. So you're generally going to want both hands on this saw.

Store price was $129 on the sticker with a clearance ,yellow tag showing of $90. So, this might not be a big drop, right?

Probably miss-marked. I just picked one up and the one's marked $129 were tool only (no battery and charger). Also, my store had them in the wrong slot and I found them locked on the wrong shelf under a wrong sku number. Be sure it says "kit".

Unless Rigid system is necessary, tons of nice Skil 20v Pwrcore reciprocating saws $20+ cheaper for the new kit eBay.

Ok, I just saw the kit. I have the right one. I am wondering should I get two or buy the circular saw for 87. I need to go to the junkyard and cut thru an exhaust pipe. Can this do it or do I need a bigger rec saw.

*I left the reciprocating kit but it had a ton of glue under the flap and u can see it's globs..wondering if someone opened it and returned?

My store had them on a separate display in the back of the store. It looked like the kind of display they get for the holiday promotions. The display said $90 clearance price and $129 regular price. I didn't notice these before they went on clearance so I don't know if they actually sold for $129 originally, but that sounds right for a holiday promo.

Haha. I just purchased one and same thing about the glue. My exact thought. I guess they are all like that. I'll find out tonight.

dunno... Recip blades are thin and jam up in wet green trunks, branches, and limbs. If you have a helper pull the branch so as to allow the blade to run, then it works pretty good. And 1" or smaller branches- they are too flexible and rubbery. The blade just shakes the branch. The axe wins here too.

Maybe bring both the axe and this tool? Big Grin

I think this will cut through an exhaust pipe just fine. But you'll need a blade for metal, the included one is a generic one for wood.

As for the glue- all the kit boxes seem to be this way. I think the box/glue robot at the factory needs some adjustment. Mine had too much glue, and the cardboard not quite folded tight at the top and bottom, but the glue kept it closed. It was definitely new and sealed, never messed with.
