I use the dot email trick and have had 4 memberships so far…so if your email is [email protected] for the next time just use [email protected] and the 3rd time [email protected] etc etc basically any combination of periods will make Sam's club (and most places) believe its a different email address, but the email still goes to your normal gmail
I have been 'renewing' Sam's club membership every year for $20 (or lower in the past. This year we moved to a city with Costco so I got Costco membership and let Sam's Club membership expire. After a few trips to Costco, I bought Sam's Club again.

Costco is just too crowded for comfort. First parking is a pain and then you have to navigate your cart through hordes. And then finally check out lines are huge. It's just crazy. Sam's club has fewer people and so shopping is MUCH faster. And scan and go is awesome. My wife just refuses to step into Costco now. We figured $20 extra per year for Sam's Club is worth the peace of mind.

We'll probably still keep Costco. $60 is a lot but even one big ticket item a year makes up for it. So we'll keep Costco for major purchases and online ordering. Overall 'deals' are definitely better at Costco. But we'll use Sam's club for regular weekend groceries. Like I said, $20 extra just to avoid the crazy Costco rush is worth it.
I agree 100%. We have both, but I avoid Costco whenever possible. We keep it only because one of the eyeglass prescriptions in our family has a surcharge at places like Zenni, so getting the lenses for $50 at Costco (plus a second pair for "free" with just the cost of frames) ends up breaking even with the membership cost. There are one or two things Costco regularly sells that is a good price (3lbs of chia seeds for like $9 is one) that helps. Kirkland toilet paper is still the pre-pandemic width, so I buy that. We only drive EVs these days, so waiting in line for Costco's "top-tier" gas isn't a benefit for us.

All three Costcos around us are a zoo. The Scan & Go at Sam's is amazing, I can't believe anyone puts up with lines. And a hill that I will die on is that Costco's food sucks compares to Sam's. We have been to all three; my kids hate their pizza and their hot dogs suck (and no sauerkraut!). Froyo is twice as much as Sam's (and it's the same stuff). I don't think you can order food from the Costco app like you can with Sam's; it's nice to just walk up and get my food without waiting in line.

I just don't get the Costco cult following. Like most places, you only save money on some things and they make it up on overpricing others. Their return policy is generous, I'll give them that, but so was REI's before it was abused enough that they had to crack down on it.

Quick note: Costco has gone up to $65 for their standard membership, so it's no longer $60.

Sam's club has its great perks such as not being so busy and the scan and go check out option is the best. The main reason I got their membership was because they were the only store I could find a specific similac baby formula in bulk size. I also go to Sam's to get my toilet paper. The members mark toilet paper is WAY better than Costco in my opinion.
Both the Member's Mark TP and paper towels are noticeably better when held side by side. Member's Mark walnuts also taste way better than Costco's, which taste stale every time. Sam's Club rotisserie chicken is also way more flavorful. Costco has better seasonal items though and more locale specific items so I usually alternate both stores.

Is it worth it to get the $60?
Look at the rewards percentage and you can calculate how much you have to spend for it to be worth it.

No. Just make a new email and a new account for the promo, they don't verify memberships like Costco does. Been going for years and never took a picture for membership, just showed them my phone.
That doesnt work. I think its either the physical address or credit card information that they are checking.

Sams all the way! However, even these slick deals are becoming less slick each year for Sams.
2025: $20
2024: $15
2023: $10
2022: $8

Notice a trend?

Does anyone using the email trick have a Sam's Club Mastercard, or does that complicate things using the same CC each time? Delete and add back to account later? Thanks!
This is my question. My renewal is coming up in march. I have the sam's club Mastercard. Curious how it links and works if you can make this happen

Since you have successfully used the email dot trick, I assume the account is not dependent on the phone number? TIA

Mine doesn't renew until the end of May. I was wondering if another deal would pop up. I would rather not lose 3 months membership, but like that, I would save $50 on a plus membership

free shipping removal was a big deal breaker. But you know costco don't offer free shipping then why sams should? I know costco have higher product tier and brand value. I have costco as well.
Wait a minute. So you are saying that if you get the basic membership, one still has to pay a shipping fee even if you order, say an item, for $100? No free shipping beyond a certain level?

While the top-tier gas at Costco is good, I wouldn't have a membership for that or go out of my way to get it (and I have both Costco and Sam's Club memberships). Over the years, my wife and I have driven well over a million miles. We buy our cars new and drive them for about 200,000 miles before well sell them. In all those miles and all that time (going back to the mid '80's when gas was not as good as it is today) we have never had to have a fuel-related repair. No problems with the fuel injector, valves, fuel flow meter, etc. We always use name brand gas, but usually just buy wherever it is cheaper (we don't live close enough to either club to go there just for gas). While top-tier gas may be better on paper, in reality it is more about marketing than any real world effect.
I concur. Gasoline is an excellent solvent. Fresh gas at the right location is much more important than top tier gas. This is the main reason why some car manufacturers employ direct and port injections. 1985 Toyota Celica has no problem with a steady diet of Sammy's gas. Same with 1986 Mazda 626 and 2008 Toyota Corolla (1-2 percent long term fuel trim). I'd be more concerned about dirty fuel filters in modern cars since many are located in the fuel tank.

Some cash back websites like sw_ offer a $10 bonus. Don't see such promo this year. Mine expires at the end of this month. Sam's gas is 10-20 cents lower.

E-mail trick didn't work for me , had to use a new phone number. Is there anyway to delete previous records? Phone numbers will be exhausted eventually.

I'm up to my 7th new email address now doing the Sam's new membership.
This time, using my old phone number did not work.
I had to use a new phone number and it worked.
iImean I think you can just fake a new phone number because it doesn't really use your number to check anything.(although I did use a valid new number but it didn't ask me to verify it)

My membership expires next month.

Used a new email and a different phone number, and got the $60 one.

It would not let me use my wife's info as she was an "Add-On" cardholder from the old account.

After I made the new account, it let me put my wife on the new one too. Weird.
