My Columbia low hikers, non-waterproof, have lasted a decade...no kidding! No serious rugged hiking but miles of trailsand travel, but now maily daily use. The new colors though. Need new hikers as planning for the Inca Trail and these are too old now but not a fan of these styles and colors.

They've worked perfect for me. Comfortable and I've tried them in dry dessert steep inclines, muddy inclines, mildly wet grass. Given how they sink into dirt instead of sliding it gave me confidence in them. I've only slipped a couple of times over many dozens of hikes. The heal is worn out before everything else

Standard is on sale. Wide is not on sale. Nothing to see here my fellow wide feet freaks, move along.

Mine barely lasted a year, they thread and heal is worn out. I mean to be fair I wore them regularly as I walked quite a bit. I'm sure if you saved them just for weekend hikes they'd last longer.

Can these shoes be used with waders in the ocean?

If you're planning to use them for hiking, buy one size up to give room to your toes in downward paths. It is essential on long trails to minimize feet fatigue and soreness.
I usually wear 9.5/10 and my comfortable hiking boots are 10.5 to 11.5. I own the Columbia Newton Ridge and find them nicely lightweight, comfortable and good looking. For this price, they are a very good deal, but I wouldn't buy them at full price

Decent sale prices here. I wear a lot of Columbia clothes and it's a brand I trust. I was checking out the Newton Ridge boots, but after making the Granite Trial from a recent deal my first Columbia shoes in a long time, I'll pass. Those are okay for casual wear, but they simply don't have the same solid feel of something like Merrell Moabs or anything by Keen, so I'm not sure I can trust them for work. Not confidence they'll last, and not as comfortable, so for work shoes I'll wait for the next deal on some Moabs. Not knocking them at all for knocking around, but I have demanding standards for work.

Careful if you need to return them.
They charge $6 for a shipping label, i.e., they deduct $6 from the refund…

Not anymore, your opinion is for decade old products. Very few retailers/brands have maintained the quality standards over the past decade.

Oh, I don't know. Merrell and KEEN still make some quality boots. But you're not going to pay Columbia prices for them.

I want some new winter boots for dealing with the snow. I think I might give these a try. My cheapo Walmart pair from 10+ years ago is starting to get uncomfortable

I got 6 months out of my Columbia low hikers. I walk 2-3 miles a day x5 days a week and they showed lots of heel wear, uncomfortable foot bed design, and the sole separation at the front started. I saw these Newton's at DSW and their quality is cheap.
