Agreed. Got a non ratcheting one and it's torture if doing a sprinkler system.

Don't use this for old and brittle PVC pipes, it will crack.

I only use this saw, works so much better:

Ordered a couple days ago and should have it today. I can let you know the quality then.
I got this for a dedicated tool box cutter- tired of hunting down my other cutter when I need to cut hose. (Don't keep outdoor or construction tools in my shop tool box- that's for mechanical only)
Hopefully for $5 it will be good enough to cut fuel lines, etc.

*edit*
It just showed up and it's actually pretty decent. Obviously if you are a landscaper or plumber this isnt for you but for occasional use it's pretty solid. ( At least it's metal and not plastic) For sitting in the toolbox and cutting fuel lines and such a few times a year it's great.

My experience with PVC cutters as a person who owned an irrigation company for 15 years long ago. Ratchet cutters work best with schedule 40 pipe (450 psi) or thicker more rigid walled pipe. They can cut anything at the beginning but quickly become dull and will only cut rigid pipe. Can you replace the blade? I'm not sure. Home Depot use to carry cheaper Orbit ratchet pvc pipe cutters for about $10.00. The blades could be replaced for about $4. THEY DULL FAST! With any dulling they will not cut a thinner walled class 200 pvc pipe which is typically used on sprinkler lateral lines, not main sprinkler line which typically uses schedule 40. When ratchet pipe cutters are dull they will crush pipe and shatter brittle pipe. I used a KwikCut style non ratchet cutter for most of my sprinkler work which would cut everything including poly. It would cut much faster than a ratchet cutter. I would save a nice sharp ratchet cutter just for main lines. Just my two cents. Good luck!

The HF one is Ratcheting and with lifetime warranty, a no brainer if you got one nearby.
