You can go thru Costco or Sams club if youre a member. Saves you the $35 fee and you can earn up to a $100 gift card for upgrading.

Seems like Simple Choice does qualify and gets you up to $500 trade in value.
Unfortunately t mobile charges $30 extra on phones (apple sells ip16 for 800 and t mobile for 830.
T mobile also asked for $35 connection charge.
This extra $65 surcharge makes it less appealing ☹️

I have TMO Essentials plan with 4 lines (one is free). Pay around $120/month or so, i think?

I would like to get decently priced phone upgrades (trade-ins are fine) every so often without having to keep up with various deals. Thoughts on whether its worth it to upgrade to Magenta Max?
This seems like a great deal if you are already on one of the higher priced plans and, for whatever reason, must stay on it.
Also seems like a good deal if you absolutely must have new phones and don't mind moving to a higher plan to offset the price of the phone(s).
Otherwise, for 4 lines, you go from $120/mo to $200/mo on Magenta MAX. If you trade for phones on all 4 lines, you're certainly ahead as long as you stay with T-Mo for the next 2 years. To be fair, you do gain some benefits but moving to the more expensive plan, but most basic phone users won't take full advantage of those benefits to where it offsets the additional cost.

This is a rare deal that Magenta Max gets the same trade-in value as Go5G+ and Next. If you want the top trade-in value without monitoring the deals, you will have to change to the most expensive plans.

better to do online and have shipped or go pick up at local store?
Pros of store pickup:
1) No chance of phone getting lost in transit
2) Store rep gets a $5 commission for handing you the phone
3) Store rep takes your trade-in in person, netting you the trade-in credits immediately

Cons:
1) Have to drive
2) If you haven't backed up your data to iCloud or computer, you will have to sit in store to transfer data

So if I do this at Costco, I'm paying probably $900 after tax for a new Iphone 16 and then getting back about $35 a month for 2 years? Am I reading this deal correctly?
No, buying through Costco or Sam's Club is the same as buying through a T-mobile store, except with $35 DCC fee waived and getting their respective store bonus gift card.

Local store doesn't have all colors or storage. Online order on T-Mobile website or ordering through Costco / Sam's / Apple has its own perks.

For Costco / Sam's / T-Mobile online orders, you can still do deferred trade-in in the store within 30 days of receiving new phone.

I understand that this is a "Valentines Day" promo but any past history on how long these promos run? My kiddos are coming due for upgrades and I'd really like to wait to get them something similar to the SE (which rumor has it will be announced next week).
Keep an eye out on this or Reddit posts. Usually, someone finds out a day before and gives a heads-up and there is a scurry of final purchases.

Does buying from Costco give you the option of picking up from a T-Mobile store though? I've only ever seen people have to get it shipped to their home address.

These days they just want you to move to their most expensive plans, I have 4 lines for $100 plus taxes, now they want me to move to $200 for 4 lines and bind me for 24 months.
That's an extra $80 for 24 months = $1920 extra to be paid with a binding for 24 months.
Now, if they give $400 extra (over the used phone market price) for your semi-modern device, that's about $1600 extra for my 4 devices, and force you to be an over-consumer, not worth the 2 year binding.
Personally, I don't want contract and want the freedom to move to any provider whenever I want.

My 2 cents, Not worth the hassle!!

You can trade in an S10e from 2019. It doesnt need to be a current Android or Apple model.
There is a list of phones that qualify.

If the promo shows up while shopping but doesn't appear in cart, does that mean the plan doesn't qualify? I have a really old grandfathered plan and tried a couple times but the $500 won't stick.
