Unfortunately t mobile charges $30 extra on phones (apple sells ip16 for 800 and t mobile for 830.
T mobile also asked for $35 connection charge.
This extra $65 surcharge makes it less appealing ☹️

Traded in an iPhone 14 Pro 128GB and upgraded to an iPhone 16 Pro 512GB, got the full $830 credit via immediate credit on fair market value of existing phone + promotional credits over 24 months. New phone isn't in stock, so getting it in the mail and planning to turn in my old phone to a local T-Mobile store.
Total cost, $99 down payment + tax on MSRP of phone + monthly payments for the remainder of the balance after credit (roughly $15/mo over two years). They waived the $35 activation fee and gave me a flyer to redeem a $100 Costco Shop card (promo code 240150 as others have mentioned here).
I had to educate the T-Mobile associate on this deal (actually showed them this Slickdeals page), as he wasn't aware that it also applied to Magenta Max plans. Which makes me think this might be the last time that this level of deal is available to plans that are not based on Go5G.

Sucks that they charge tax on MSRP of the phone. Why not charge tax on the discounted amount like we pay for everything else?
