This process should get better as time develops as last year the only process that was popular involved soldering and other technical stuff. There are actual kits being sold now.
Anyway, a lazy search for upgrade prices is approximately $280 to $320 for 1or 2 tb upgrades.
For comparison, I bought this same model except I went with the 512gb hard drive for $719 last November. This was using a 10% military discount on the Apple store. So basically an extra $220 for another 256gb storage.

I didn't know Apple had a military discount. 50 years out of the service. If it's good for iPhones, will use for gifts.
That will always beat education pricing in my book.
Also most important:
Thank you to all veterans and there families .
Your dedication, and sacrifices are greatly appreciated !

Also AAFES offers excellent Apple financing programs with the MILITARY Star Card.
For the past 5 years I price match everything and purchase the bulk of my Apple Equipment from them.
Programs like 18month 0% financing with purchase total of $999.99 and up or 12 month 0% with purchases $499.99 and up are some examples of how I got the best price on my Apple Studio Display, HomePods, Accessories to my MBP M3 Pro, then on the MBP I received a gift card for $70 *which I forgot to use
Keep in mind AAFES price match is Central Time Zone (Based in Texas) so when you are able to PM an awesome deal, call before 10PM CT / 11PM EST (I'm in the NE)
*Also at least 1-2 times a month it's an Apple Incentivized Sale… so if you miss it, no problem.
*FYI Bonus it works great for the women in my Family because they also offer great discounts on
High Fashion items (Purses, clothing, etc) with same incentives. (I know off topic, but just incase it helps a fellow family man)
Take care & Happy Holiday weekend!
