FYI This particular M4 model has an upgradeable SSD! Go to the sub 'Macmini' on Reddit for more info-or just Google it. (Search for 'SSD' on the sub and there are multiple threads about this.)
This process should get better as time develops as last year the only process that was popular involved soldering and other technical stuff. There are actual kits being sold now.

Anyway, a lazy search for upgrade prices is approximately $280 to $320 for 1or 2 tb upgrades.

For comparison, I bought this same model except I went with the 512gb hard drive for $719 last November. This was using a 10% military discount on the Apple store. So basically an extra $220 for another 256gb storage.

This deal is better. You don't have to pay taxes through AAFES.

Probably November. But wait for the M6. You only have to wait for a year after that.

The M1 Minis had a well known issue with monitors. It just didn't work well with a lot of them. Had a flickering issue. Is it safe to assume that has since been fixed?

Wow!

I didn't know Apple had a military discount. 50 years out of the service. If it's good for iPhones, will use for gifts.

MX or die. Don't fall for the M9 hype.

For what is worth you can get it for this same price from Apple, using the education website. I recently bought one without having to provide even an edu email address.
Shopping here is tax free for military and veterans.
That will always beat education pricing in my book.

Also most important:
Thank you to all veterans and there families .
Your dedication, and sacrifices are greatly appreciated !

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND AAFES - ShopMyExchange.com - ALSO PRICE MATCHES! Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Costco., …and more!
That combined with no tax for service members and the member's dependents (spouse, children) - Must be registered with ID.me

Also AAFES offers excellent Apple financing programs with the MILITARY Star Card.

For the past 5 years I price match everything and purchase the bulk of my Apple Equipment from them.

Programs like 18month 0% financing with purchase total of $999.99 and up or 12 month 0% with purchases $499.99 and up are some examples of how I got the best price on my Apple Studio Display, HomePods, Accessories to my MBP M3 Pro, then on the MBP I received a gift card for $70 *which I forgot to use Frown -expired …by purchasing on my MilitaryStar Card, also price matched my iPad M4 Pro and iPad Mini, all Tax free & Best Price Available w/Gift Cards Back.

Keep in mind AAFES price match is Central Time Zone (Based in Texas) so when you are able to PM an awesome deal, call before 10PM CT / 11PM EST (I'm in the NE)

*Also at least 1-2 times a month it's an Apple Incentivized Sale… so if you miss it, no problem.
*FYI Bonus it works great for the women in my Family because they also offer great discounts on
High Fashion items (Purses, clothing, etc) with same incentives. (I know off topic, but just incase it helps a fellow family man)

Take care & Happy Holiday weekend!

Not sure who downvoted you, and I do have screen flickering issue AND wireless connection issue. I returned mine and can't believe any computer nowadays still has these issues. Very disappointed! Apple Store employees said that's strange and they never heard that!

Yeah but this saves about $40 or so in tax.

This video shows very simply how to do it step by step. Looks like less than 30 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLtE2kMTVOQ

Then when the M5 comes, you're gonna think about the M6. You'll never know the difference unless you're rendering something and you're waiting for it to finish.

It's my understanding that they hardly ever do. I just placed my order and it shipped a few days later.
