If they have the same deal like last year. Around March, there will be a 30% off special so the best plan is $140. Combine that with this Amex offer plus the possibility from some cash back sites and the price goes down more. After all the cash back, I got it down to ~$70 for their best plan
I'm on the $3 a month for 6 month w/ads plan. Wish they did this one more often.

So I need a new HBO plan. After having cancelled hbo at home. What is the best deal to get the starting price down as low as possible for a year sub?

The lack of new, good shows on MAX is appalling for what they charge.
It feels like they release like one show at a time. If I wasn't on a grandfathered Latin America plan, I would absolutely cancel it. All of the shows that would have been on Max 10 years ago are on AppleTV+ now.

Yep, I'm definitely planning to wait until March to see if that 30% off deal is offered again this year. If I can stack an HBO annual sub discount with this AmEx $25 credit, then it officially becomes a good deal for me.

Perfect timing! I'm on the intro rate for the first three months until then.
For those who also need Disney+ and Hulu, you can now pay $30/month for this new bundle via Disney+. If you have an Amex Platinum, you should get the $20/month credit for it.

Yeah that basically works out to be the same price as the $169 annual cost - $25 LOL $10 a month vs $12

Thanks for this… I might bite on it.
I haven't found a good use case for myself for the AMEX streaming credit yet. I want Max but not Hulu or D+ and I want to be able to watch Max in 4k which is not an option using it as an add on.
Rats! I ended up signing up for HBO out of cycle for a year due to them not having the Amex code at the same time of the year they had it the last 2 years prior. It's way late this year or early.
I just signed up 01/29. Does anyone know if I can cancel and resubscribe for the year again to get the credit or does it apply on my recent subscription?
