The exact one I linked should be the x870e which is what I got. It had more features and I saw it worth the extra bit of cash. Never cheap out on a motherboard, because you'll be feature locked in a few years when you want to add something but can't because you wanted to save $50-100 a few years ago
I got this CPU for $247 on the Micro Center bundle deal last week ($550 with motherboard and 32gb RAM). It is truly powerful and was a significant upgrade from my previous Intel i9-9900k. About 1.3x - 1.5x performance across all tests. Also improved my 3080 about 5-20fps depending on the game. Highly recommended CPU but perhaps get it in a bundle if you're already looking for a matching motherboard.

Yes, the tech in this bundle all released within the past year, so it is totally compatible with an RTX 5070. Just be sure that you get the proper power supply to juice the whole build and you'll be fine.

oh and you'll need to get a cpu heat sink if you get that bundle. it doesn't come with one

3 days late but I don't see much advantage in running new default tdp vs eco mode based on initial reviews. Most coolers these days, 120w or so tdp is nothing but I'd probably still flip back to eco mode
Does eco mode make it run at a lower TDP and thus cooler?

I got this bundle from MC with x670e and 32GB of ram. Upgrade from i5 6700k with 16GB of ram. Installed Ubuntu on the Samsung evo plus 1TB super budget friendly and it was BLAZING fast. CPU runs at 42-45C with artic freeze 4 360mm. Let me say… coding and running codes on old machine vs new… docker containers and package installs takes less than few seconds. Even hosting LLMs using ollama took less than about 1 min to download and start. It has been a major improvement and productivity went thru the roof while saving a ton of time.

It was fair cheap too bundle $550 cooler $93 ssd $116 (from Samsung with first responder discount) you can't go wrong here. Goto MC grab a set, I heard you can upgrade ram to 64GB for $100 more… worth it if ur hosting a lot of VMs
