Good deal, if I didn't already have 3 sets of these I'd buy more. Batteries last a long time on both the mouse and keyboard. I also have a Bean brand of mouse/keyboard combo and I've changed the batteries twice already on both mouse/keyboard on the Bean and have yet to change them on the Logitech and I use the Logitech much more.
On my sim-racing rig, the keyboard is roughly 4 ft from the USB dongle. I frequently have to power cycle to get key strokes detected. Often times portions of words are missing. The mouse functions 95% of the time, with those last 5% being noticeable delays.
At my desk, the USB dongle is behind my monitor, so at most 26 inches and visually obstructed by a 27in LCD screen. That is enough that my mouse probably works half the time. When it acts up, I need to disconnect the dongle and power cycle the mouse. This keyboard (also no more than 26 inches) is more consistent than the keyboard with 4ft of separation and no impacts to line of sight. But I frequently have to power cycle it as well...on the order of once per hour.
I picked up a MK540 at Amazon ($34 used) to replace the MK270 at my desk. I don't like the bigger size...but I never have a problem. $34 for something which works is significantly cheaper than $19 for something that doesn't work as it should. This is definitely a case of you can save money or you can save annoyance.

You do you baby boo. Clearly I wasn't talking to you. I am talking to the people, in this economy, who don't have 20 bux to waste on trash. Glad that you plan for guests that never show up. πππ
I have had these issues with cheap and premium Logitech products. They need to have line of sight within 2 feet or I'm getting disconnects and missed keys.
I'll only used wired inputs for gaming now, and use a USB hub to get my dongle closer.

Just wanted to add more to it in case others thinking about it haven't really got the idea yet. This combo sucks big time, especially the small mouse. You're better off using the free mouse that dell used to give back in the 2000's.
For a spare setup that hardly gets used, maybe you can use it for that. For daily use, you're really mistreating yourself using junk like this.
We have these at work. They suck. Mouse is tiny. Keyboard mediocre. This is not a unifying receiver so if you lose anything, it's trash. I see these in the bin almost every day. For home use on a spare PC, sure.
