Add Paris to the list of overrated places

The Venice canal is basically an open sewer
Stayed in Versailles and avoided the Paris crowd

Loved Italy and France. Went this same time a couple of years ago and the weather was lovely and no big crowds. Might go again!

You do know that Firenze is about a 2 hour trip from Venezia via the high speed trains from Trenitalia and depending upon the time/date maybe about 25 euros one way, right?

I am Italian, born and raised in Florence.

Edit: there is more than a 2 hours train ride.
Distance from the airport to the train stations with luggage and mainly the fact that international flights from secondary airports (Florence and Venice) tend to leave early in the morning to catch a connection in a bigger hub.

Venice during the fall season can flood during high tides. The town is very much used to it and sets up raised platforms to walk over flooded areas though.

Rainy often times with huge floods that come up to your waist or higher. Then they put out these walk planks. It no fun stay away.
