Do people often buy 2-3 gen old hardware with future upgrades in mind? Genuinely asking as this is something I've heard as common place
Yes but not this, my cyber power pc has msi board and rtx 3050. I add another nvme ssd, will upgrade gpu eventually and cpu if good enough deal comes around I can't pass up

Was orginally gonna get a refurbished i5 12400 HP Victus 15L, add 32G of Ram and an Intel Arc B580 (if anyone actually has stock in at MSRP long enough to actually grab one), all in would be $650.
But this could fit my needs at $590.
Realize both would be pretty DOA on upgrades being AM4 based and small chasis that barely fit GFXs cards or cooling options.
Still leaninig toward Victus...
Agreed. I've been wanting a newer system but I was wanting to skip the 13th or 14th generation chips. The price is great for what it is.
Yeah, I was going to pop in a more powerful graphics card and due to the constraints of that case, this is not a system for me.
I'm grateful for you sharing the video because I would not have anticipated the case to be that limiting. I won't be able to use the system.
Its a decent system. I didn't want to build at the time. I just wanted something decent and low cost. It runs well. The 3060 12gb is a huge upgrade over my old 1050ti.
12th gen, 16gb, 512ssd plus extra 1tb HDD. Its all good.
Only downside is the faster USB 3.0 ports are on the front of the case. So I have a diagonal USB cord for my external hard drive.
The rear ports are 2.0 for your keyboard, mouse, DAC, etc.
