Our rice cooker broke about a week ago, so pardon a dumb, but legitimately sincere question: what does a rice cooker at this price range offer over a cheaper one?

Besides hopefully not breaking. :-D

Perfectly cooked rice just about every time....even if you can't measure well, it will do the best with what you've given it.

Copying my comment from previous deal:

I have this rice cooker model and have used it for years. Until recently, the soldered internal coin battery (which keeps the clock and settings) have died and not easily replaceable. There are guides and videos on how to do it. Just want to let others know before they decide. The rice cooker still works if plugged, just won't keep the clock settings when unplugged.

I have one and I love it for jasmine rice with eastern-asian style cooking.
Does not work too well for basmati rice you would want to eat with south asian or middle easten food.
