This has nothing to do with the clicker. If someone steals your car with keys, and you keep your registration in your glove box, the same could happen.

If you have an unlocked interior door inside your garage, I agree you should be careful with door openers. We have switched over to key code entry locks on the house and love it, never need to remember your keys and never get locked out.

Lol. Thief steals your car, with your garage door opener, with intent to break into your home. They get to your interior garage door, which is locked, and they just walk away. Of course they do.

95% of the vehicles on the road have programmed garage door buttons, regardless. These aren't some "thief magnet".

We have stopped using garage remotes. We use MyQ. Works 99.9%, but we always have our home key as back up. Don't even bother to carry them or leave them in your car. It's not worth it.

And MyQ is much cheaper. All of my family has access with an app

Right? And how is it people don't seem to understand that you can just lift the garage door by hand, regardless of the remote? Unless you physically engage a slide to prevent it from rolling up, every garage door I've encountered is always unlocked

I know some people who have garages that do not have any entry ways into the home...

Which movie is it from? I dont think any robbers will do that. You're either watching too many movies or was dreaming when the "old lady" told you.
Check the fact in your Facebook buzz or neeighbors news. These robbers always come in groups with stolen car registration. They wear black suits, jump over the fence, and break the patio door. They will be in/out your house in less than 10 mins. So, garage remote doesn't have anything to do with robbers nowadays.

Pro tips: adopt a guard dog, because a cat will run away when thief comes.
Fear mongering at its finest. Some cats may attack. 😂 😂

How does that work? First, most doors that have a power opener don't have any kind of a handle on the outside, and most doors are tight enough to the garage floor you would have a tough time getting your hand underneath. In addition, even if you could slide your hand under the door, you would be fighting the motor of the opener, which is why door openers have the pull cord to disengage the drive system when you want to open the door manually.

If you ever get homelink for your rearview mirror, these universal remotes won't work for them. I recently tried and homelink customer service said: "those cheap Amazon remote won't work. Please get an OEM one" i ended buying a used one on ebay to pair with the garage opener
They're giving you a line of BS. We have a vehicle with Homelink, one with the factory Chamberlain remote, and one with a cheap remote like these in the post, and they all work fine. I programmed them myself without any issues, adding the Homelink vehicle after the others had been in use for a while.

Totally agree. Especially if parking your car in the driveway, and ESPECIALLY clipped to your visor. I mean at that point why not just leave a key to your house taped to your dashboard as well 😂
This is exactly what I have been doing for 15 years now.
Thx for the new perspective, however what am I supposed to do now?

Not clip to the visor but take it inside?

I bought these but haven't been able to get them to work with my Martin opener. If anyone knows if it works w/ Martin and how to do it, please post. Tx.

I suppose it depends a lot on individual situation, but for most people I think just keeping it out of plain view would work. Like in your console or glove compartment.

I got this at home Depot and leave it attached to my purse so it doesn't stay in the van, not as cheap as these knock offs, but very well made and happy with it

My concern there would be that with one of these without a cover you can accidentally trigger a button from another object in your purse or pocket. Then you leave your house and your garage is wide open without noticing.
