This is tempting, but I got burned by Elegoo on the Neptune 3, when they released the Neptune 3 Pro 6 months later and all firmware updates on the 3 stopped entirely. The Marlin and Klipper community never had an officially supported config (it's been a while since I checked) due to garbage documentation of the board they used.

Lots of people raised this issue on Reddit, Facebook etc, and Elegoo pretty much said too bad.

Hard for me to trust initial releases after that, especially when a lot of "reviews" thus far are from paid YouTubers.

Just my 2 cents.

This is not a resin printer; it's a FDM printer that uses rolls of filament. Here is a link that explains the differences. [formlabs.com]

I found you can use promo code SASE10 to take off another $10. Helps take the shipping cost down.

That is cheap for a core xy. Don't think that you'll be getting bambu x1 quality, but maybe it'll be good. Don't bother preordering. It'll be aviailable on amazon at the ship date and probably at the same price. Plus you'll have a a return policy with amazon if it is a piece of junk.

Your Youtube video was excellent, thank you.
What I don't like most is the Elegoo proprietary software, no, no, no. Also I'm concerned with how the AMS is going to work with the filament coming in from the side of the machine. How is this possible. Everyone else comes in from the top. Plus it's a waste of space having the filament spools on the side of the printer.

Hey! You ripped that all off from Uncle Jessy's YT video LMAO

I kid. Great work on the video! I watched it the other day. I assume the door breaking thing you referenced and others pointed out had to do with a prior "episode" on one of your videos lol.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank litesdsd

If you are looking for more of a critical video on this Centauri, check out Honey Badger 3D Print and Paint's review on YT. The entire video was good but 23 minutes in he calls out his disappointments with the printer. Very valid points and enough for me to pass on this printer for now.

YouTube is awash with reviews of it.
Actual objective reviews? Or "I signed an agreement to gush over it after Elegoo sent the device to me for free" reviews?
Not at all saying your wrong, just so far all Ive seen have been the latter type.

Id love for this to be good. I have a few friends who want to get into 3d printing, and with Bambu raising prices and turning ....weird, this might hit the spot.

::Edit::
Just saw UncleJessy's list. I need to go watch his video.
Bummer @

Here were a list of my callouts after using the Centauri for the past few weeks
  • Side Spool holder only holds a 1kg roll - can be adapted for larger rolls
  • The side spool holder / wall has a little flex to it, doesnt impact anything just a note on that
  • When loading a full new spool I sometimes had the line slip off and need to be corrected
  • Depending on the location of the print head, inserting filament into the extruder might need an extra little push or remove the top or move the print head to make the angle less extreme
  • The single LED inside isnt great - I'm already looking into modding mine with a better LED strip
  • Camera quality is okay at best
  • No Mobile App for remote monitoring
  • Currently you can only download timelapses directly on the printer
  • Wireless sending files sometimes would crash - this has since been fixed with slicer updates
  • Camera playback in the slicer cuts off after a few seconds - I know they are actively working on this one
  • Slicing and sending prints to the printer you cant select which buildplate Option A or B or if you want the timelapse enabled - This has since been fixed with the latest slicer updates
  • Its not directly supported in orca slicer - they are actively working with orca to make this happen
  • The dual sided PEI - the cool plate side is okay at best I have to bump up the temp to 50 or 60 still
  • onboard fan constantly running even when not printing - you can turn it off on screen but should be a firmware change to disable by default when not printing
  • Bed leveling takes way too long - thankfully not needed before every print
  • I also called out the need for Spare Parts! Still absolutely critical IMO - they now have hot ends and buildplates but I want to see other things like belts, or replacement glass doors Wink
  • NO AMS - PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME AND MAKE SURE IT WORKS PROPERLY! So happy they took their time with the Centauri Carbon and that it runs so well out of the box. Please do the same for the AMS
wait it doesn't have AMS? then what's the side spool thing for? It's just a holder and doesn't do anything else?

I did the pre-order of the Neptune 4 back in 2023. I think about smashing it with a hammer every time I look at it. Was my first 3d printer and it has been nothing but problematic. Never stays level or zeros properly, randomly crashes mid print, death blobs, and z axis issues. Thought it was finally good, went to bed and woke up to a pile of plastic and destroyed belts. it's not worth the time or money to fix. I was tempted by the bamboo labs sales and i'd gladly pay more for a better product, but the elegoo experience has completely turned me off to the hobby. I don't want to spend hours endlessly tinkerering and perhaps had unreasonable expectations 3d printers "just worked."

I've not had a neptune. But I did start out with an ender and learned the hobby. Then got tired of it exactly the way you've described. Was going to hang it up. Got a P1S and it made printing fun again. Now I get excited about design and capability instead of worrying about the printing. Hasn't been perfect, but compared to where I was it is night and day.

Does anyone else notice the buildplates not showing up in the "PRE-ORDER | Centauri Carbon FBT Bundle" order page?

I've watched more than a few reviews of this and they all seem very positive. Esp at the $500 price.

I'm very tempted but passing (but sent it to all my friends). I have enough other printers that there really isn't a need for me (and I don't want / run a print farm).

Seems like the coupon codes mentioned on page 2 are not working with the all-in-one combo. Yesterday they all worked with the standalone product.

If you listen to his story, it was a fault with the power cord he used (not the one from Elegoo) and/or his extension block.
Yeah I watched the whole thing and or course that's an import detail, but it he also made it sound like this wouldn't be a risk if they hadn't chosen to heat the bed with AC mains. My point is having your bed heat a bit faster may not be worth to risk here.

This looks awesome for the price. Only hold up at this point besides being brand new and not proven is no AMS yet. I might pick one up and dump my A1 at this price point. Would prefer CoreXY.

Can I run these stacked like a washer/dryer?
Asking for a friend 🤣

Also, it may not be P1S quality, but if it's close (as reviews claim it is) then for $300 it could make a great garage printer... I feel like having the p1s in my office is not great for my health, but my garage gets cold.
