This is tempting, but I got burned by Elegoo on the Neptune 3, when they released the Neptune 3 Pro 6 months later and all firmware updates on the 3 stopped entirely. The Marlin and Klipper community never had an officially supported config (it's been a while since I checked) due to garbage documentation of the board they used.

Lots of people raised this issue on Reddit, Facebook etc, and Elegoo pretty much said too bad.

Hard for me to trust initial releases after that, especially when a lot of "reviews" thus far are from paid YouTubers.

Just my 2 cents.
This is not a resin printer; it's a FDM printer that uses rolls of filament. Here is a link that explains the differences. [formlabs.com]
I found you can use promo code SASE10 to take off another $10. Helps take the shipping cost down.

I was actually genuinely curious about this printer, but thank you for putting this out.

All I see are YT reviews, and I'll be honest... I don't trust them. I feel like they sway the population in one direction too much..... One moment they all say BAMBU #1, the next minute, BOYCOTT BAMBU!.... Make a decision already, sheesh!

And like, the bashing didn't start until Bambu did something the community didn't like, then all of a sudden now, the youtubers make videos that bambu printers come with so many NEW flaws, compared to other printers... Wishy washy judgement.

FWIW, it's been a few years, and I think it's time to dust off your neptune 3 lol... It looks like there's a subcategory just for it in the klipper git hub:

Crazy price for Core XY…ordered two
I've seen crazier!

Albeit... slightly smaller build plate.

Picked up a flashforge AD5m for $195 on Amazon (BNIB) last week. Just finished up printing the enclosure kit for it (Was $25).

So I made out with a $220, enclosed, CoreXY printer!

I have been interested in getting into 3D printing but know nothing about it. Say I had a plastic fuse box cover for my Camaro and the tabs broke off. Is there a way to "scan" the shape in to recreate one? Or do you have to have a template or something that the printer recognizes?
there are plenty of free CAD types of software out there (like tinkercad), along with videos on how to use them on youtube. You can design the piece yourself, if someone else hasn't already done so. there are a lot of websites that host 3d printing files (like thangs) where someone might have already uploaded the part your thinking of.

I wish it was a 300x300 bed. I love the large bed on my CR10 and I don't think I will be happy with a 256x256. Any leaks on what Bambu will be releasing this year?
I was thinking the same thing; but I already have a X5SA pro for that bigger bed. a majority of the things I print are on the small side anyways. If I need something bigger, I'll boot up the tronxy. I'm getting this because i want something I don't have to fiddle with, but not have to spend an arm and a leg on (the price is wife approved)

Anyone know if the carbon versions heated bed only gets to 110 vs 100 because of the enclosure? Wouldn't it be easy to throw plexiglass on the regular one to make it enclosed? Also is the only reason it can print extra types of filament is because of the enclosure? I don't see the camera/enclosure being worth the price difference.

So to be fair, I am largely in that exact camp. I think the change in sentiment is a self inflicted wound on Bambu's part. I have a P1S that I like quite a bit, but what Bambu has done lately (trying to further wall things off under the guise on improved security) does bother me. I plan to just not update the firmware any further, but it also makes me apprehensive to buy another one of their machines.

That said, at least my P1S worked great out of the box and still does. The Neptune had serious firmware issues and was DOA.

I do need to dust it off. I have it and a couple Ender 3s sitting idle. I got a hold of some replacement boards for each on the cheap with the intention of converting to Klipper, but I just never got around to getting it done. That was long enough ago and things have moved so fast the past few years that these may all be largely obsolete when I get it done, but might just be fun project on it's own if I ever get the time.

I did the pre-order of the Neptune 4 back in 2023. I think about smashing it with a hammer every time I look at it. Was my first 3d printer and it has been nothing but problematic. Never stays level or zeros properly, randomly crashes mid print, death blobs, and z axis issues. Thought it was finally good, went to bed and woke up to a pile of plastic and destroyed belts. it's not worth the time or money to fix. I was tempted by the bamboo labs sales and i'd gladly pay more for a better product, but the elegoo experience has completely turned me off to the hobby. I don't want to spend hours endlessly tinkerering and perhaps had unreasonable expectations 3d printers "just worked."

I don't really understand why this is a front-page deal. 300 USD looks like the MSRP, not a pre-order discount.

Oh good. It also looks like it's not difficult to shock yourself on the frame of the machine with how they've implemented the AC heated bed.

If you listen to his story, it was a fault with the power cord he used (not the one from Elegoo) and/or his extension block.

The non-Carbon model is $199. Seems crazy for a self enclosed printer to be that cheap... Both seem very competitively priced.
The $199 version is an open frame. Still a really amazing price, though, even without the panels.

They're just fun projects at this point, I picked up a AD5M last week. It's heaps and bounds better than any bedslinger I can print off of.

The only thing my old CR-10 wins in (even with all the mods) is it's got a humongous print bed.

Like you said, I see NOTHING wrong with Bambu printers quality... The people trash talking really should stick to the point, and not veer from the fact that they are great, right out of the box, printers. However, their approach to better security is another conversation for another day... I stand on zero fronts, myself... I just want a printer that works lol... and eventually hope to slide myself into a printer that can do engineering prints (I plan to do a widebody GS-F one day).

Here were a list of my callouts after using the Centauri for the past few weeks
  • Side Spool holder only holds a 1kg roll - can be adapted for larger rolls
  • The side spool holder / wall has a little flex to it, doesnt impact anything just a note on that
  • When loading a full new spool I sometimes had the line slip off and need to be corrected
  • Depending on the location of the print head, inserting filament into the extruder might need an extra little push or remove the top or move the print head to make the angle less extreme
  • The single LED inside isnt great - I'm already looking into modding mine with a better LED strip
  • Camera quality is okay at best
  • No Mobile App for remote monitoring
  • Currently you can only download timelapses directly on the printer
  • Wireless sending files sometimes would crash - this has since been fixed with slicer updates
  • Camera playback in the slicer cuts off after a few seconds - I know they are actively working on this one
  • Slicing and sending prints to the printer you cant select which buildplate Option A or B or if you want the timelapse enabled - This has since been fixed with the latest slicer updates
  • Its not directly supported in orca slicer - they are actively working with orca to make this happen
  • The dual sided PEI - the cool plate side is okay at best I have to bump up the temp to 50 or 60 still
  • onboard fan constantly running even when not printing - you can turn it off on screen but should be a firmware change to disable by default when not printing
  • Bed leveling takes way too long - thankfully not needed before every print
  • I also called out the need for Spare Parts! Still absolutely critical IMO - they now have hot ends and buildplates but I want to see other things like belts, or replacement glass doors Wink
  • NO AMS - PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME AND MAKE SURE IT WORKS PROPERLY! So happy they took their time with the Centauri Carbon and that it runs so well out of the box. Please do the same for the AMS
